METLEN and Copec EMOAC Partner to Deliver 450 GWh of Renewable Energy in Chile with Nighttime Storage Support

(IN BRIEF) METLEN has signed a 15-year agreement with Copec EMOAC to deliver 450 GWh of renewable electricity annually from four solar plants in Chile, beginning in Q2 2026. The deal includes energy delivery during nighttime hours, supported by 322 MW of METLEN’s own battery storage systems. This partnership ensures a stable green energy supply during off-peak periods, supporting Chile’s decarbonization goals and reinforcing METLEN’s leadership in energy innovation and expansion across Latin America.

(PRESS RELEASE) ATHENS, 21-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — METLEN (RIC: MYTr.AT, Bloomberg: MYTIL.GA, ADR: MYTHY US) has entered into a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Copec EMOAC, a Chilean subsidiary of Copec and a key player in the renewable energy sector. The agreement will see METLEN supply 450 GWh of renewable electricity annually from four solar facilities in its Chilean portfolio, starting in the second quarter of 2026.

Copec EMOAC, recognized for advancing energy transformation through tailored renewable energy solutions, will benefit from METLEN’s deployment of 322 MW of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). These systems, part of METLEN’s own infrastructure, will ensure the energy delivery occurs during the designated “Non-Solar Block”—between 19:00 and 07:59 (Winter) and 22:00 and 06:59 (Summer)—when solar output naturally declines.

The PPA is structured to provide a steady and reliable supply of green energy during these off-peak periods, contributing to Chile’s broader decarbonization efforts. By addressing periods when renewable output drops and the system typically relies on higher-cost energy sources, METLEN’s storage-backed delivery strategy offers price stability while promoting sustainable power use.

This agreement underscores METLEN’s innovative role in Chile’s energy sector by advancing nighttime PPAs as a strategic response to market volatility and the challenges of variable renewable generation. It also aligns with METLEN’s growth strategy in Latin America and bolsters Copec EMOAC’s goals for stable and sustainable energy sourcing.
