MAHLE Secures European Certification for E-SCAN Electric Vehicle Battery Diagnostics Integrated in TechPRO and CONNEX Devices

MAHLE Secures European Certification for E-SCAN Electric Vehicle Battery Diagnostics Integrated in TechPRO and CONNEX Devices

(IN BRIEF) MAHLE has received BATTERY HEALTH CHECK CARA APPROVED® certification for its E-SCAN electric vehicle battery diagnostics function, confirming compliance with European quality standards and strengthening confidence in battery health assessments across the used EV market. Integrated as a standard feature on TechPRO® and CONNEX diagnostic devices, E-SCAN enables technicians to evaluate battery State of Health in under two minutes without a test drive, using manufacturer data accessed through the EOBD interface. The certification provides repair shops, fleet operators, and used-vehicle dealers with a trusted and consistent method for assessing battery condition, which is essential for determining resale value. MAHLE also offers the E-HEALTH Charge system for deeper diagnostics, while continuing to build a connected workshop ecosystem that combines equipment, digital tools, and training focused on electric mobility and vehicle diagnostics.

(PRESS RELEASE) STUTTGART, 27-Feb-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — MAHLE has secured BATTERY HEALTH CHECK CARA APPROVED® certification for its E-SCAN battery diagnostics function, confirming that the system meets European quality requirements for assessing the condition of electric vehicle batteries. The certification, granted by the Car Remarketing Association Europe (CARA), highlights the reliability of MAHLE’s technology and provides added confidence for repair shops, fleet operators, and used-vehicle dealers working with electric vehicles.

E-SCAN is included as a standard feature on MAHLE’s TechPRO® and CONNEX diagnostic devices. The function evaluates the condition of electric vehicle batteries by reading key parameters, including the State of Health (SoH), through the vehicle’s standardized European On-Board Diagnostic (EOBD) interface. These values are then assessed using original manufacturer data, enabling workshops to obtain an accurate picture of battery condition in less than two minutes. The process does not require a test drive, allowing technicians to complete diagnostics quickly and efficiently.

Battery condition assessments are particularly important in the used electric vehicle market, where the high-voltage battery can represent up to 60 percent of a vehicle’s overall value. With CARA certification in place, MAHLE’s E-SCAN technology provides a recognized and consistent method for evaluating battery health, supporting transparency and comparability across European markets while helping businesses strengthen their competitive position.

Felix-Matthias Walter, Director Service Solutions at MAHLE Lifecycle and Mobility, noted that certification enhances MAHLE’s position as a trusted partner in the expanding used electric vehicle sector. Workshops and other partners can provide customers with reliable battery condition information quickly and without the need for additional investment, while the certification ensures consistent standards across different markets.

For workshops requiring more advanced battery diagnostics, MAHLE also offers the E-HEALTH Charge system. This solution performs a more detailed analysis by combining OBD data with measurements taken during the charging process. The system delivers a manufacturer-independent assessment of battery State of Health within approximately 15 minutes. Designed for workshops specializing in electric vehicle servicing, the E-HEALTH Charge unit can be used flexibly in workshop environments and may also operate as a standalone 22 kW DC charger via the E-CHARGE 20 configuration.

MAHLE continues to develop an integrated workshop ecosystem that connects expertise, equipment, and digital solutions to support modern vehicle servicing. The company’s offering includes spare parts, diagnostic technologies, digital tools, and training programs, with particular focus on e-mobility and advanced diagnostics to help workshops keep pace with rapidly evolving vehicle technologies.
