(PRESS RELEASE) CHARLOTTE, NC, United States, 19-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — A.P. Moller – Maersk (Maersk) has officially designated Charlotte, North Carolina, as its North American headquarters, reinforcing the city’s position as a competitive logistics and business hub. The decision strengthens Maersk’s long-standing presence in the region and reflects its commitment to expand significantly in the coming years. The company plans to add more than 500 new roles to its existing Charlotte workforce, bringing its total headcount in the city to over 1,300. Maersk first established its corporate footprint in Charlotte more than twenty years ago and acquired its current South Charlotte office building in 2006.

According to Maersk, Charlotte offers an ideal balance of affordability, talent availability, and quality of life—factors that were central to its decision to anchor its North American leadership there. The new headquarters will host a series of core functions, including finance, human resources, commercial strategy, and technology operations.

Charles van der Steene, President of Maersk’s North America Region, emphasized that the company’s strategic evolution into a fully integrated logistics partner has resulted in substantial growth across both its operations and workforce. Establishing a formal headquarters, he noted, represents a natural next step in Maersk’s journey. “For more than two decades, we’ve built strong relationships and a solid foundation in Charlotte,” he said. “This move allows us to further support our customers while fostering a workplace where our teams can grow and thrive. We’re excited to deepen our roots in this vibrant community and across the North America region.”

The announcement underscores Maersk’s broader mission to streamline global logistics operations while investing in communities that offer long-term potential for innovation, business development, and workforce advancement.
