(PRESS RELEASE) BILLUND/BRISTOL, 11-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The LEGO Group has joined forces with multi-award-winning Aardman Animations, the stop motion specialists behind the beloved Wallace & Gromit franchise, to launch a unique initiative encouraging children to explore creative storytelling through stop motion animation inspired by LEGO® bricks.

This first-time collaboration invites young builders to take part in a special creative challenge hosted on the LEGO Play app. Using the app’s animation tool, kids can craft and share their own animated stories for the chance to see their ideas come to life in a brand-new Aardman production. The launch is accompanied by a short animated film from Aardman in which Boop, a clay-made alien, finds themselves in a vibrant LEGO brick world, befriends minifigures, and embarks on an adventure that young creators are invited to help complete.

Anna Rafferty, SVP of Digital Consumer Engagement at the LEGO Group, expressed excitement about the partnership: “Working with Aardman is an incredible opportunity, and we can’t wait to see the imaginative stories children will create. This is just the beginning—we look forward to more collaborations in the future.”

Sarah Cox, Aardman’s Chief Creative Director, echoed the sentiment: “Everyone at Aardman is a big LEGO fan, so this partnership has been pure joy. It’s been built on mutual respect, openness, and our shared passion for creativity and playplay—bringing together the magic of the brick and the charm of clay.”

As part of the initiative, Aardman has produced a one-minute animated short starring Boop, along with five monthly mini stop motion challenge films, including Build Your Own Boop, designed to spark children’s creativity within the LEGO Play app. Additionally, Director Magda Osinska will host an online workshop for young filmmakers, supported by tutorials from fan creators and influencers.

The LEGO Play app, available in 76 countries and 25 languages on the Apple App Store and Google Play, provides a safe, creative space where kids can build, share, and explore content. Those wishing to join the challenge must sign up for the LEGO Insiders Club, which offers exclusive content, avatar customization, and the ability to save and share creations.

Fans of both LEGO and Aardman will also be able to recreate Wallace & Gromit in bricks for the very first time through the upcoming LEGO Ideas Wallace & Gromit set, launching in 2026. The set captures the quirky humor of the iconic duo, blending nostalgia, creativity, and a satisfying building experience for fans of all ages.
