ISS launches first global partnership with Social Value Portal to measure social sustainability impact across 60 markets

(IN BRIEF) ISS has entered into a global partnership with Social Value Portal to introduce the first worldwide framework for measuring social sustainability impact across its 60 markets. Using the Global TOM System and its unique International Dollar metric, ISS will be able to translate local initiatives—such as inclusive hiring or sustainable sourcing—into standardised, comparable social value data expressed in financial terms. Having trialled the system in selected markets since 2023, ISS will extend its use to Spain, Australia, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway in 2025, with a global rollout from 2026. The collaboration underscores ISS’s goal of strengthening social sustainability reporting and setting a new international standard for socially responsible business.

(PRESS RELEASE) COPENHAGEN, 26-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — ISS, the global workplace experience and facility services leader, has announced a pioneering partnership with UK-based Social Value Portal to strengthen its commitment to social sustainability worldwide. The collaboration, the first of its kind on a global scale, will establish a unified framework for measuring and reporting the positive social and community impact of ISS’s initiatives across its 60 international markets.

At the centre of this partnership is the adoption of Social Value Portal’s Global TOM (Themes, Outcomes, Measures) System, which uses the International Dollar as a common metric to evaluate and compare social sustainability actions across different countries. This innovative approach enables ISS to translate initiatives—such as hiring employees from marginalised groups in Australia or sourcing environmentally sustainable products from local suppliers in Chile—into measurable social and economic value.

ISS has already been working with Social Value Portal in selected markets since 2023, generating key insights into local social contributions. With growing demand from multinational customers for global consistency in sustainability reporting, ISS is now expanding this model to create a shared language and standardised financial measure of social value across its entire network.

Margot Slattery, Global Head of Social Sustainability and Inclusion at ISS, said: “Social sustainability is now a key focus for businesses worldwide, with customers increasingly expecting transparent and comparable data. By working with Social Value Portal on a unified global measurement system, ISS can not only demonstrate the impact of its actions across borders but also elevate the role of social sustainability within global business strategies. Converting social value into monetary terms helps us highlight its importance at boardroom level and ensures it remains central to decision-making.”

Guy Battle, CEO of Social Value Portal, welcomed the collaboration, noting: “The Global TOM System is more than a framework—it is a tool that empowers organisations to maximise the value they bring to people and communities. By assigning proxy financial values to social initiatives, such as employing someone who was previously long-term unemployed, the system captures the broader benefits to society and the economy. The International Dollar creates a universal benchmark, enabling ISS to set a new global standard for responsible, people-first business practices.”

The phased rollout will begin in 2025 with pilot markets including Spain, Australia, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway, with further expansion planned for 2026 and beyond. Through this initiative, ISS is positioning itself at the forefront of socially responsible business practices, providing customers and communities with transparent, quantifiable proof of the positive impact it generates worldwide.
