(PRESS RELEASE) HEIDELBERG, 1-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Heidelberg Materials North America has signed a definitive purchase agreement to acquire the assets of BURNCO Rock Products Ltd., a fifth-generation, family-led supplier of construction materials based in Edmonton, Alberta. This deal encompasses six aggregate quarries, two asphalt manufacturing facilities, a bitumen storage terminal, three ready-mix concrete plants, and a rail-served cement terminal—operations that currently employ around 200 people in the Edmonton region.

By integrating BURNCO’s portfolio into its own operations, Heidelberg Materials North America bolsters its presence in a rapidly growing market and broadens its offering of core construction materials. “This acquisition catapults our aggregates division into one of Canada’s most dynamic regions,” stated Dr. Dominik von Achten, Chairman of the Managing Board at Heidelberg Materials. “It aligns seamlessly with our Strategy 2030, enabling us to deliver a more extensive network of aggregates and concrete solutions to our customers.”

Chris Ward, Member of the Managing Board and CEO of Heidelberg Materials North America, added that the deal will generate notable efficiencies across the Northwest region. “We are excited to welcome 200 dedicated BURNCO colleagues and their customers into the Heidelberg Materials family,” he remarked. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and is anticipated to close by the end of 2025; financial details will remain confidential.
