(PRESS RELEASE) TRIESTE, 28-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Fincantieri, a global leader in shipbuilding, has announced the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in Saudi Arabia, marking a significant step in strengthening its presence in the region. These agreements reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to Saudi Arabia, especially after the establishment of its subsidiary, Fincantieri Arabia for Naval Services, in 2024.

The strategic partnerships underscore Fincantieri’s dedication to driving innovation, sustainability, and industrial development in collaboration with local and international stakeholders. In alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, these partnerships highlight Fincantieri’s unique position as the only shipbuilding group to operate across all major high-tech marine sectors, including cruise, offshore, and defense markets. This positions the company to further leverage its vertically integrated business model and vast expertise.

Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and Managing Director of Fincantieri, commented on the agreements: “These collaborations represent a reaffirmation of our strong commitment to the region and our enthusiasm for exploring new business opportunities, particularly in the defense sector. Saudi Arabia is emerging as a key global hub for maritime technology, and we are excited to partner with local entities to harness our comprehensive capabilities. Together, we will drive innovation and sustainability, contributing to the ambitious goals of Vision 2030.”

One of the key agreements includes a partnership with King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST) focused on cybersecurity for naval applications. This MoU aims to enhance the security of naval communications, identify and prevent cyberattacks, and protect onboard automation systems. KAUST, recognized as a center of excellence in technological research, will collaborate with Fincantieri to address critical cybersecurity challenges in the naval sector, leveraging the combined strengths of both organizations.
