• The plan achieved a “CSR Distinction” in the 2013 Cegos Awards, organised in partnership with Equipos&Talento, which reward best practices in human resource management.
• The Senda Plan strives to advance the development of a culture of social responsibility in management of human resources.

Endesa’s corporate social responsibility plan dealing with human resources, the SENDA Plan, has been awarded a CSR distinction in the 2013 Cegos Awards, organised in conjunction with Equipos&Talento, which reward best practices in human resources management.

The Cegos group in Spain and the HR website Equipos&Talento are the organisers of these accolades, which reward companies’ and organisations’ efforts to innovate, embed best practices, unlock value in their actions and stand out in the market. The prize categories are Organisational Management and Consultancy, Training and Development and Selection and Integration. This is the fourth edition of the awards and on this occasion extraordinary distinctions were also conferred for CSR – won by Endesa -, the Mass Consumer Sector, new 2.0 environments and International Projects.

The aim of the SENDA plan is to responsibly manage people, taking into account the integration of various groups, employee satisfaction, respect and professional development. In short, a more human, efficient and productive approach to talent management. Targets are set annually which have monitoring indicators to measure progress. In 2012 over 65 initiatives were carried out in Spain and Latin America under the SENDA Plan’s five principal lines of action:

1. Integration of people with disabilities and people at risk of social exclusion: practices that foster professional opportunities for people with disabilities and people at risk of social exclusion with the aim of contributing to their development and integration in society, and acting as a company with a firm commitment to workplace integration. Our initiatives under this line of action include the development of the four-year “Crecer +” training programme for young people at risk of social exclusion.

2. Managing diversity and equal opportunities. The aim is to be a company which respects and manages differences among its employees, guaranteeing equal treatment and opportunities. In this area, for example, Endesa was one of the first Spanish companies to sign up to the United Nations’ Women’s Empowerment Principles and to develop initiatives that foster gender diversity. In 2012, we signed up to the “Companies for a society free of domestic violence” initiative launched by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality.

3. Achievement of a work/life balance and flexible working arrangements: in this sphere our aim is to offer employees a flexible and healthy working environment where they can achieve a healthy balance between their family, personal and professional lives. In pursuit of this objective, Endesa has attained family-friendly company certification in Spain, Colombia and Chile and promotes the “FFC” (Family-Friendly Company) model at all its head offices.

4. Promotion of volunteer work: Endesa encourages corporate volunteering among its employees. It is committed to the development of the communities in which it operates and contributes to their social, environmental, educational and cultural development. Endesa is a founding partner of the Voluntarecorporate volunteer network and regularly collects food under the “Together we can achieve more” campaign to help the disadvantaged.

5. Socially responsible investment. Endesa strives to incorporate sustainable investment criteria in the area of Human Resources. In fact, Endesa’s pension plan manager formally signed up to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI).

Endesa’s Global Senda Plan is also rolled out locally through the Senda initiatives for the different countries in which Endesa operates in Latin America, namely Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru.

Targets are set annually for the Global Senda Plan which have monitoring indicators to measure progress.
