(PRESS RELEASE) BRUSSELS, 3-Feb-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — ECTAA, the association representing national travel agents’ and tour operators’ organisations across the European Union, and WEX, a global financial technology provider specialising in virtual card and travel payment solutions, have launched a two-year strategic partnership aimed at advancing the digital capabilities of the European travel industry. The collaboration is designed to support travel intermediaries in adopting secure, efficient, and compliant payment technologies suited to an increasingly digital, multi-channel, and cross-border marketplace.

Through this partnership, both organisations intend to strengthen financial processes within the travel sector, with a particular focus on improving cash flow management, reducing fraud risks, and increasing operational efficiency for travel businesses of all sizes. By leveraging WEX’s expertise in virtual card solutions and payment innovation, the initiative seeks to equip travel intermediaries with modern tools that enhance transparency, financial control, and supplier relationships.

Jason Hancock, Managing Director of Global Travel at WEX, emphasised the growing importance of secure and scalable payment systems in today’s digital travel ecosystem. He highlighted that WEX’s technology supports businesses in optimising working capital while minimising exposure to financial risks, and expressed enthusiasm about working alongside ECTAA to strengthen financial practices across Europe’s travel intermediary sector.

Eric Dresin, Secretary General of ECTAA, underlined that the rapid evolution of the travel industry requires continuous adaptation to both regulatory and technological developments. He noted that cooperation with WEX would facilitate industry dialogue, promote practical knowledge sharing, and ensure that travel companies have access to modern payment solutions that enhance their competitiveness and transparency.

The partnership establishes a structured framework for collaboration over the next two years, centred on knowledge exchange, market intelligence, and strategic engagement with industry stakeholders. WEX will regularly contribute insights on topics such as risk management, virtual cards, and B2B payment optimisation through ECTAA’s main communication channels, including LinkedIn, annual reports, and newsletters.

A key element of the collaboration will be WEX’s Platinum Sponsorship of the ECTAA Travel Distribution Summit in Brussels on 10–11 February 2026. As part of this role, WEX will co-organise and participate in a dedicated in-person panel discussion. The company will also support ECTAA’s broader programme of activities by contributing to webinars, online workshops, and industry events throughout the duration of the partnership.
