(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 22-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with backing from the European Union, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and Canada via its High‑Impact Partnership on Climate Action (HIPCA), is providing up to €55 million in green financing to SAHAM Bank. This marks the fourth collaboration between the EBRD and SAHAM Bank under the EU‑supported Morocco Decarbonisation and Climate Resilience programme.

The package includes €6.25 million from the GCF and €2.4 million from Canada, and will be delivered through SAHAM Bank’s GEFF Plus facility. Sub‑loans will target Moroccan businesses of all sizes—SMEs, mid‑caps, and larger firms—to enable investments in advanced climate technologies, energy efficiency measures, and resilient infrastructure. An accompanying technical assistance and incentive scheme, funded by the EU and GCF, will guide companies in optimally deploying these funds to maximise environmental and economic impact.

By offering tailored financing solutions and capacity‑building support, this initiative accelerates Morocco’s transition to a low‑carbon economy, promotes inclusive growth, and strengthens resilience against climate change. SAHAM Bank—operating in Morocco since 1913—will channel the funds directly to client enterprises, reinforcing its role in the nation’s sustainable development.
