Continental Expands Generation 5 Portfolio with New Conti Hybrid HT 5 Trailer Tire for Regional Transport Efficiency

(IN BRIEF) Continental has introduced the Conti Hybrid HT 5 trailer tire, completing its Generation 5 range for regional freight transport and offering fleets a unified solution across all axles. The new tire delivers approximately 15 percent higher mileage than its predecessor while reducing rolling resistance to improve fuel efficiency and total cost of ownership. Enhanced tread technology provides reliable grip in challenging weather conditions, and the casing is designed for durability and retreading to extend lifecycle performance. Available from March with integrated RFID capability, the tire can connect to the ContiConnect digital platform, supporting smarter fleet management and efficient regional logistics operations.

(PRESS RELEASE) HANOVER, 16-Feb-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Continental AG has expanded its Generation 5 tire portfolio for regional freight transport with the launch of the new Conti Hybrid HT 5 trailer tire, completing a fully harmonised solution for steering, drive, and trailer axles. Designed specifically for distribution operations that combine urban deliveries, highway travel, and occasional on-/off-road use, the new tire is engineered to meet the rigorous demands of daily regional logistics.

The Conti Hybrid HT 5 has been developed to handle frequent stop-and-go driving, tight manoeuvring in city environments, and fluctuating load conditions typical of distribution fleets. Compared with its predecessor, the Conti Hybrid HT 3+, the new generation delivers around 15 percent higher mileage, helping operators reduce replacement frequency and associated maintenance effort. Lower rolling resistance further contributes to improved fuel efficiency, supporting reduced operating costs and environmental impact across fleet operations.

Advanced tread compound and redesigned tread geometry enhance grip in wet, cold, and wintery conditions, reflected in a B rating for wet grip on the EU tire label. The tire also achieves an A rating for external rolling noise, contributing to quieter transport operations. Features such as zigzag centre grooves and precisely engineered 2D pocket sipes maintain reliable traction even as tread depth decreases, while optimized stiffness ensures balanced pressure distribution for stable braking and predictable handling.

With the addition of the Conti Hybrid HT 5, Continental now offers a coordinated tire family across all axle positions in regional transport applications. The Conti Hybrid HS 5 supports steering precision and ride comfort, while the Conti Hybrid HD 5 is tailored for traction and braking stability on drive axles. The HT 5 complements the lineup with durability, high running stability, and resilience under variable loads, all supported by a casing construction suitable for multiple retreading cycles to extend service life.

The tire will be available starting in March in sizes 385/65 R22.5 and 385/55 R22.5, with further sizes planned through 2027. All versions come equipped with RFID sensors and can be integrated into Continental’s ContiConnect digital tire management platform, enabling real-time monitoring and data-driven fleet maintenance.
