(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 22-Feb-2019 — /EuropaWire/ — The City of Stockholm has signed an agreement with the construction company Skanska to have the Stockholm House of Culture & City Theatre in central Stockholm, Sweden renovated. The renovation will cost the City of Stockholm around SEK 550 M (~EUR 51 million).

The renovation contract will be included into Skanska’s order bookings for Sweden for 1Q 2019.

Skanska will be responsible for the renovation, improvement of the indoor environment and the new technical installations in the buildings.

The new assignment is actually a 2nd phase of a collaboration that has started in late 2018 with preparatory work and the establishment of a timetable and target cost for the project.

The project, once completed, has a goal to apply for certification according to Breeam, level Good and therefore the entire renovation work will be carried out with high sustainability requirements. The environmental certification system Breeam is known for its holistic approach to a building’s environmental performance.

It is planned for the the Stockholm House of Culture & City Theatre to be fully renovated in the summer of 2020.

Skanska is active in building construction and civil engineering in Sweden, Norway and Finland and is one of Nordics’  leading development and construction companies. Skanska had reported more than EUR 6 billion (SEK 67 billion) sales in 2018 relying on more 15,500 employees.
