Boskalis & Allseas Win €1.2 Billion Contract to Build Taiwan’s Second Yongan–Tongxiao Offshore Gas Pipeline

(IN BRIEF) Boskalis and Allseas have formed a 50/50 consortium that will deliver CPC Corporation Taiwan’s second offshore gas pipeline, YT2, valued at approximately €1.2 billion. The project entails designing, constructing, installing and pre‑commissioning a 232 km, 36‑inch pipeline running parallel to the existing YT1 route between the Yongan LNG terminal and the Tongxiao transfer station. Key activities include seabed trenching, crossing 34 pieces of infrastructure, backfilling and executing two landfalls. Boskalis will handle landfalls, microtunnelling, trenching, backfilling and rock placement using specialized dredging and rock‑installation vessels. Allseas will perform the pipeline lay and pre‑commissioning—complete with concrete mattress deployment—using its state‑of‑the‑art pipelay ships. Scheduled from 2026 to 2028, the project will strengthen Taiwan’s energy transition and ensure a more robust natural gas supply in the north.

(PRESS RELEASE) PAPENDRECHT, 29-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Boskalis and Allseas are delighted to confirm that their evenly split joint venture has secured a major contract from CPC Corporation Taiwan to build the YT2 offshore gas pipeline from Yongan to Tongxiao. Valued at around €1.2 billion, this strategic endeavour will bolster Taiwan’s energy transition efforts and enhance northern Taiwan’s gas delivery capacity.

The agreement tasks the consortium with the full lifecycle of the new 36‑inch YT2 pipeline—design, construction, installation and pre‑commissioning—along a 232‑kilometre route paralleling the existing YT1 line. The comprehensive work package comprises seabed trenching, laying the pipeline across 34 crossings of current and planned infrastructure, backfilling operations and two shore landfalls.

Within the partnership, Boskalis will oversee the two onshore landfalls and execute microtunnelling, as well as handle near‑ and offshore trenching, backfilling, and the placement of rock protections at each crossing. To accomplish these tasks, Boskalis will deploy two large hopper dredgers, a heavy backhoe dredger and a subsea rock‑installation vessel.

Allseas will be responsible for the main pipeline laying and its pre‑commissioning, including the pre‑lay deployment of concrete mattresses to stabilise the seabed. For these operations, Allseas will utilize two of its most advanced pipelay vessels.

This award underscores both companies’ dedication to advancing critical offshore energy infrastructure and reinforces their leading positions in the global marine engineering sector. By collaborating closely with CPC Corporation Taiwan, the consortium will play a pivotal role in securing a reliable and resilient natural gas supply for the region.

Project work is slated to begin in 2026, with hand‑over and completion expected by 2028.
