(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 12-Mar-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — ANDRITZ has secured an order from Ahlstrom Sweden AB to supply a PrimeDry Steel Yankee for a machine-glazed (MG) and specialty paper machine at Ahlstrom’s Billingsfors mill in Sweden. The new equipment will be installed on PM6 and is expected to enter operation in the fourth quarter of 2026. The companies have agreed not to disclose the financial details of the contract, which has been recorded in ANDRITZ’s order intake for the first quarter of 2026.

The PrimeDry Steel Yankee will replace the machine’s existing cast iron Yankee cylinder. The upgrade is designed to deliver improved long-term drying efficiency, support higher production reliability, and maintain stable operations for the paper machine. By integrating advanced drying technology, the new system will help strengthen the mill’s ability to produce MG and specialty papers with consistent quality while supporting operational performance over the long term.

The selection of ANDRITZ reflects the company’s established technological capabilities in the MG paper segment, as well as its capacity to execute projects within demanding timelines. Its global manufacturing network and flexible production capabilities enable the company to meet accelerated delivery schedules while maintaining high engineering and manufacturing standards. These factors will help ensure that the transition from the existing equipment to the new steel Yankee proceeds smoothly, allowing Ahlstrom to continue operating PM6 and producing high-quality MG papers without disruption.

Giorgio Mirone, Vice President of Operations for Protective Materials at Ahlstrom, highlighted the importance of completing the replacement within a compressed schedule, emphasizing that ANDRITZ demonstrated the technical expertise and flexibility required to meet the project’s delivery targets. The collaboration reflects the importance of reliable partners when implementing equipment upgrades that must be carried out with minimal interruption to production.

The order further highlights ANDRITZ’s strong position in the MG paper segment and strengthens its role as a key technology supplier in the Nordic region, particularly in projects requiring advanced paper production solutions and specialized equipment.

Ahlstrom Sweden AB operates as part of Ahlstrom, headquartered in Finland, a global producer of fiber-based specialty materials.
