(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 19-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — ANDRITZ, a global leader in technology solutions, has announced that Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers Ltd. (TNPL) has selected them to supply a cutting-edge tissue production line for its Unit II mill in Mondipatti Village, Tamil Nadu, India. This partnership marks a significant milestone for TNPL as it enters the tissue production industry.

Dr. Sandeep Saxena, I.A.S., Chairman & Managing Director of TNPL, shared: “Our vision is to embrace advanced technologies and emerge as the world’s leading producer of eco-friendly paper products. As we enter the tissue market, it was crucial for us to choose a partner with the innovation, expertise, and reliability that ANDRITZ offers.”

ANDRITZ will deliver a state-of-the-art PrimeLineTM S 2000 tissue machine, designed to produce high-quality tissue grades from TNPL’s own hardwood pulp, with an impressive maximum capacity of 34,000 tons per year. This machine is engineered to operate at a design speed of 2,000 meters per minute, with a working width of 2.85 meters. The PrimePress XT Evo shoe press will ensure exceptional bulk levels and the highest sheet dryness in the market. Coupled with a 20 ft. steel Yankee and a steam-heated hood, the system will deliver highly efficient drying, resulting in significant energy and cost savings compared to traditional drying sections that rely on gas-heated hoods.

The scope of supply extends beyond the tissue machine itself, as ANDRITZ will also provide a complete stock preparation system, automation and electrification, rolls, fabrics, and high-efficiency pumps. These pumps will be manufactured, assembled, and tested at ANDRITZ’s Chennai facility. Detailed engineering will also be handled by ANDRITZ as part of the comprehensive service package.

Ashutosh Batra, Vice President of Sales at ANDRITZ India, stated: “Our successful collaboration with TNPL, which began with supplying stock preparation equipment, a deinking plant, and chemicals recovery systems, continues with this state-of-the-art tissue production line project.”
