Airbus drives industry-wide collaboration through Destination 10X to strengthen global flight safety

(IN BRIEF) Airbus is expanding its flight safety initiatives beyond aircraft development through Destination 10X — a global collaboration platform aimed at reducing aviation accident rates by at least tenfold. The programme connects operators, safety leaders, and Airbus specialists through workshops, regional meetings, and digital knowledge-sharing tools. Since 2023, eight workshops have been held, with new European and South East Asian sessions scheduled for late 2025. Participants jointly analyse risks, propose mitigation strategies, and produce safety communication material accessible on d10x.airbus.com. Recent workshops addressed runway incursions and GNSS interference, with feedback from airlines such as Qatar Airways highlighting the value of experience-sharing for operational safety improvement.

(PRESS RELEASE) BLAGNAC, 9-Dec-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Airbus continues to advance flight safety through more than aircraft design — a company-wide culture rooted in knowledge sharing, training, and collaboration with the global aviation community. As part of this long-term commitment, the company is strengthening industry cooperation through Destination 10X, an Airbus-led platform dedicated to reducing accident rates by a factor of ten and pushing safety standards even further in years to come.

Destination 10X functions as a collaborative hub where airlines, safety specialists, and Airbus teams exchange operational experience and develop practical solutions to recurring safety risks. The initiative promotes joint action, encourages open dialogue, and accelerates the adoption of safety best practices across the aviation sector.

A central feature of the programme is its series of regional workshops and meetings, which bring safety professionals together to address shared challenges. Since 2023, eight sessions have taken place worldwide. The calendar ahead includes an online European stakeholder event in November 2025, followed by an in-person workshop in Kuala Lumpur for the South East Asia region in December 2025. Outputs from these meetings — including safety campaign materials such as posters and educational comics — are made publicly available through d10x.airbus.com, helping extend awareness beyond workshop attendees.

Real-world collaboration driving safety outcomes

During workshops, participants work in focused groups targeting specific safety themes. At the 2024 Middle East session, runway incursions were identified as a priority. One breakout group assessed risks, explored mitigation options, and developed the storyboard for a safety comic designed to raise awareness among crew and ground personnel.

Captain Anders Hedblom, Airbus Fleet Safety Manager at Qatar Airways, praised the open exchange of ideas:
“Everyone is brought into the discussion, promoting ideas and learning from others.”

At the same event, the community also examined challenges linked to GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) interference, an issue prevalent in the region due to proximity to conflict zones. Mitigation strategies were discussed, and Airbus shared upcoming enhancements to Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR) technology, which processes GNSS and other navigation signals.

Captain Hedblom noted the value of collective knowledge sharing, particularly regarding FLS (Flight Management System Landing System) usage in non-precision approaches under GPS disruption. He described the workshops as an essential environment for exchanging expertise and looks forward to contributing to future D10X sessions.
