AF Gruppen to Deliver BREEAM-Excellent Vehicle Preparation and Logistics Facility at Holmen in Drammen

(IN BRIEF) AF Gruppen, via its subsidiary Strøm Gundersen, has been awarded a turnkey contract valued at NOK 538 million excluding VAT to construct a new vehicle preparation centre at Holmen in Drammen. Developed for a joint project company established by Bertel O. Steen Eiendom AS and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Inland Services AS, the six-storey facility will combine vehicle preparation areas, administrative offices, employee amenities and extensive parking and driving ramp infrastructure. The project places strong emphasis on sustainability, with construction aligned to BREEAM-NOR standards and a target of achieving an “Excellent” certification rating. Construction is scheduled to start in March 2026, with completion and handover planned for December 2027.

(PRESS RELEASE) OSLO, 16-Jan-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — AF Gruppen, through its subsidiary Strøm Gundersen, has entered into a turnkey contract to construct a new vehicle preparation centre at Holmen in Drammen, encompassing an administration building and a large car park with integrated driving ramps. The contract has a value of NOK 538 million excluding VAT and represents a significant development in modern automotive logistics infrastructure in the region.

The client for the project is a jointly established project company formed by Bertel O. Steen Eiendom AS and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Inland Services AS. The new facility is designed to support advanced vehicle preparation and handling operations while providing modern administrative and employee amenities within a highly efficient logistics layout.

The development will consist of a six-storey building with multiple functional zones. Office areas, changing rooms and canteen facilities will together comprise approximately 3,000 square metres. The vehicle preparation centre itself will cover around 10,000 square metres, while the car park and driving ramps will span approximately 34,000 square metres, enabling high-capacity vehicle movement and streamlined operational workflows.

A strong emphasis has been placed on sustainability and environmental performance. The building will be constructed in accordance with BREEAM-NOR standards and is targeted to achieve an “Excellent” certification rating, reflecting ambitious goals for energy efficiency, environmental impact and responsible construction practices.

The collaboration phase for the project has now been completed. Construction is scheduled to commence in March 2026, with handover planned for December 2027. The project combines complex logistical requirements with high environmental ambitions and aligns well with AF Gruppen’s experience in delivering large-scale, sustainable construction projects.
