SGS, International Labour Organization (ILO) to deliver Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) Training to SMEs

SCORE is a practical training and in-factory consulting program that improves productivity and working conditions in SMEs. SCORE Training demonstrates best international practice in the manufacturing and service sectors and helps SMEs to participate in global supply chains.

The three-year agreement allows SGS to provide SCORE Training to small and medium size factories around the world.

Developing cooperative working relations

SCORE Training focuses on developing cooperative working relations, resulting in shared benefits. The five SCORE Training modules cover workplace cooperation, quality management, clean production, human resource management, and occupational safety and health. Each module includes a two-day classroom training session for managers and workers, followed by on-site consultations with industry experts that help put the training into action in the workplace.

The SCORE programme is supported by the Governments of Switzerland, Norway and Canada and the ILO. Through the expanded delivery of SCORE Training, the ILO SGS partnership will bring about long-lasting improvements in supplier practices by highlighting the link between productivity and workplace practices – a win-win for employees and employers around the world.

Meeting the growing demand for SCORE training

Michael Elkin, Global Coordinator for ILO SCORE, said: “This partnership with SGS allows for SCORE Training to be offered to many more supplier factories in new countries. It will help to meet the growing demand from major international brands for SCORE Training.”
