(NEWS ARTICLE) PAARL, South Africa, 6-Oct-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — BevZero South Africa has completed a major operational move to a new, larger facility in Paarl, a development that underscores the company’s long-term investment in the future of alcohol-free and dealcoholized beverage production. Strategically positioned in the Cape Winelands just south of Paarl and adjacent to the N1 national road, the purpose-built site enhances accessibility, expands production capacity, and integrates advanced infrastructure designed to meet the highest standards of food safety, quality, and sustainability.

The relocation, first announced in a press release published on EuropaWire, marks a significant milestone for BevZero, a global leader in beverage dealcoholization and technology solutions. The new Paarl site increases production and storage capacity from 144,000 to 346,000 litres, enabling the company to serve a rapidly expanding market for premium alcohol-free wines and beverages.

The facility is purpose-designed to optimize workflow, efficiency, and hygiene. Located away from grape crushing and fermentation areas, it offers a cleaner production environment aligned with stringent food safety systems. Its upgraded flooring and drainage, compliant storage for chemicals and dry goods, and automated cleaning-in-place (CIP) system ensure consistent quality control across operations.

Sustainability remains central to the facility’s design philosophy. The building features a fully solar-covered roof to optimize energy use and covered loading bays to minimize environmental exposure. New temperature-controlled systems enable wine storage at 6°C, while steam-based cleaning capabilities enhance sanitation and reduce water waste.

BevZero’s Managing Director in South Africa, Gustav Fouche

BevZero’s Managing Director in South Africa, Gustav Fouche, said the expansion positions the company to meet increasing client demand while improving operational flexibility:

“We can offer our clients so much more, and that was the goal — to enhance our service offering by increasing production capacity and improving quality. With this move, we’ve successfully achieved both.”

Beyond infrastructure, the new facility includes a dedicated research and development laboratory and product innovation area to accelerate the creation of next-generation no- and low-alcohol beverages. Combined with BevZero’s existing expertise in alcohol reduction, filtration, and pasteurisation, the new Paarl site serves as a comprehensive, all-in-one solution for beverage producers across Africa and beyond.

Part of a Broader Global Strategy

BevZero’s expansion in South Africa is part of a broader pattern of innovation and sustainability initiatives across its global operations in Spain, the United States, and South Africa. The company has steadily introduced advanced technologies that support quality, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

In February 2025, BevZero announced the delivery of a ClearAlc Dealcoholization demonstration unit to its Spain facility, developed in partnership with Tomsa Destil. The 300-litre-per-hour system, designed for customer demonstrations, uses advanced vacuum distillation technology to remove alcohol efficiently while preserving original beverage flavour. The installation strengthened BevZero’s capacity to provide energy-efficient, flexible dealcoholization solutions for a wide range of beverages.

This milestone followed the company’s strategic partnership with Tomsa Destil in January 2024, which aimed to co-develop the ClearAlc technology and promote sustainable solutions across the beverage sector. The collaboration emphasizes eco-friendly production practices such as energy efficiency, CO₂ recovery, and wastewater treatment — aligning closely with the sustainable principles applied in BevZero’s new Paarl facility.

In April 2024, BevZero South Africa’s ongoing focus on quality and compliance was recognized with the FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System certification, demonstrating its adherence to international standards in food safety and hazard control. This certification underpins the company’s dedication to delivering consistently safe and high-quality beverage solutions to global partners.

Meanwhile, BevZero’s Spain division took major steps toward renewable energy integration in April 2024, installing 100 rooftop solar panels generating 50 kW of peak power and covering over 80% of the facility’s annual energy consumption. The initiative, led by Silvia Cedeno Daguerre, General Manager of BevZero Spain, reflects the company’s global strategy to reduce its carbon footprint while enhancing production self-sufficiency.

Earlier efforts, such as the launch of the BevClad tank insulation system in Europe in November 2023, also reinforced BevZero’s leadership in energy-efficient beverage production technology. The system offers potential energy savings of up to 96% while improving product stability across climates — a solution already well established in the U.S. wine industry.

Similarly, in August 2023, BevZero introduced a state-of-the-art mobile flash pasteurization unit at its South African facility, enhancing the stability and safety of non-alcoholic beverages. The innovation enables precise pasteurization that preserves flavour and nutrition while ensuring microbiological safety.

Strengthening Global Beverage Innovation

The new Paarl facility brings together the outcomes of these multi-year initiatives — from clean energy adoption and advanced dealcoholization systems to certified food safety and technical excellence — representing the next stage of BevZero’s evolution. For the global beverage sector, particularly producers exploring premium alcohol-free products, the company’s investments demonstrate a clear path toward scalable, sustainable, and high-quality manufacturing.

As consumer demand for no- and low-alcohol beverages continues to grow worldwide, BevZero’s integrated approach — combining technology innovation, sustainability, and rigorous quality control — positions it at the forefront of this rapidly maturing market.
