(PRESS RELEASE) OZARÓW MAZOWIECKI, 3-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — WB GROUP has taken a decisive step in strengthening Poland’s defense industry by signing a joint venture agreement with South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace to create Hanwha WB Advanced Systems. The new company, announced on September 2 during the International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Kielce, will focus on producing ammunition for the HOMAR-K launcher system and on developing new missile technologies tailored to the needs of the Polish Armed Forces.

The agreement was formalized by Piotr Wojciechowski, President and CEO of WB Electronics, and Jae-il Son, President and CEO of Hanwha Aerospace. The ceremony was attended by top-level representatives from both governments, including Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Minister Paweł Bejda, and Brig. Gen. Artur Kuptel, along with South Korea’s Vice Minister of National Defense Hyunki Cho and Vice Minister of DAPA Guckcheol Bang.
“This is a historic moment for Poland’s defense sector,” said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. “We are not only acquiring advanced missile capabilities but also building industrial independence by manufacturing them in Poland.”

Valued at more than one billion PLN, the project represents a major investment in Poland’s defense infrastructure. The new facility will create jobs, transfer advanced technologies, and engage a wide network of local companies. “The joint venture is based on genuine partnership,” explained Piotr Wojciechowski. “Together we will deliver solutions that enhance Poland’s security while opening opportunities for export markets.”

Jae-il Son of Hanwha Aerospace stressed the broader impact of the collaboration: “Hanwha WB Advanced Systems will deliver next-generation ammunition for HOMAR-K and build export capacity for allies. This is an investment in Poland’s people, its technology, and in Europe’s collective security.”

The partnership also includes domestic production of missiles for the Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher system, which has been adapted in close cooperation with Polish industry for the HOMAR-K program. By bringing missile manufacturing and advanced R&D to Poland, WB GROUP and Hanwha Aerospace are laying the groundwork for long-term defense cooperation and industrial sovereignty.
