Vaisala Launches Lifecycle Service Program to Improve Reliability and Performance of Weather Observation Systems

(IN BRIEF) Vaisala has launched Vaisala Care, a new lifecycle service program designed to improve uptime, measurement accuracy, and equipment longevity for weather observation systems and sensors. The service offering introduces structured support packages that combine technical assistance, remote diagnostics, and extended warranty options with proactive maintenance and calibration services. Vaisala Care is available in two tiers to match different operational requirements and is designed for organizations operating critical weather monitoring infrastructure such as airports, meteorological agencies, and energy providers. The program will initially support airport weather systems and will expand to additional product areas during 2026, reflecting Vaisala’s strategy to build long-term lifecycle service partnerships with customers.

(PRESS RELEASE) VANTAA, 25-Feb-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Vaisala, a global leader in measurement instruments and environmental intelligence for climate action, has introduced Vaisala Care, a new service framework designed to support the long-term performance and reliability of Vaisala weather observation systems and sensors. The offering focuses on maximizing system availability, maintaining measurement accuracy, and extending the operational life of installed equipment through structured lifecycle support. The program combines Vaisala’s technical expertise, remote service capabilities, and proactive maintenance approaches into clearly defined service packages tailored to customer needs.

The new service model represents a shift from reactive support toward structured lifecycle partnerships that emphasize predictability and long-term planning. Vaisala Care provides customers with prioritized access to global technical support, remote diagnostic services, defined response times, and extended warranty options. This planned support approach helps reduce downtime and ensures faster recovery when issues occur.

An enhanced service level, Vaisala Care+, expands the offering with proactive lifecycle services such as managed calibration programs carried out by Vaisala specialists, scheduled preventative maintenance, and performance optimization. These services are designed to ensure consistent measurement quality, reliable system operation, and long-term stability across weather observation networks.

The service framework is intended for organizations operating critical weather monitoring infrastructure, including airports, meteorological agencies, energy providers, road authorities, and other infrastructure operators where reliable and accurate environmental data is essential.

Structured Service Options

Vaisala Care is offered in two service tiers, allowing customers to select the level of support that matches their operational requirements. Both tiers are structured as annual service agreements, providing predictable budgeting and reduced administrative effort while ensuring that weather monitoring equipment remains reliable and accurate over time.

Anne Jalkala, Executive Vice President for Weather, Energy and Environment at Vaisala, explained that the new program responds to customer demand for clearer service options and improved cost predictability. The service packages allow customers to choose between responsive technical assistance or a more comprehensive lifecycle management approach where Vaisala coordinates maintenance planning and execution.

Service delivery combines remote monitoring and diagnostics with support from Vaisala service centers and on-site maintenance performed either by Vaisala personnel or authorized service partners. Customers can select the service level when purchasing new equipment or when renewing support agreements for existing installations, helping protect the long-term value of their measurement systems.

David Rey, Vice President for Project, CareTech and Service at Vaisala, emphasized that the company’s expanded technical capabilities and global service network support the delivery of structured lifecycle services. The Vaisala Care program brings these resources together into a unified framework designed to align with customers’ operational needs.

The service program will initially be introduced for airport weather observation systems, with additional coverage planned during 2026 for weather radars, wind lidar systems, and road weather monitoring solutions.

Vaisala Care supports the company’s broader strategy of strengthening long-term customer relationships through lifecycle service partnerships and planned maintenance approaches rather than reactive service interventions.
