(PRESS RELEASE) MILAN, 7-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — UniCredit is pleased to announce its collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron, one of the world’s most renowned architecture firms, to design its new headquarters in Milan. The new campus will be located in the Scalo Farini area, a site set to become one of Europe’s most significant urban regeneration projects. In addition to UniCredit’s new offices, the development will include green spaces, residential units, social housing, and new services for the entire city, promoting a holistic, sustainable approach to urban renewal.

The headquarters design will reflect UniCredit’s core values of innovation and sustainability. It will not only serve as a modern workplace for the bank’s employees but also contribute to the revitalization of Scalo Farini, embodying a model of social integration. This new campus is a key step in the regeneration of the area, positioning it as a vital part of Milan’s future and a symbol of progress for the city and Italy as a whole.

Herzog & de Meuron, based in Basel and founded in 1978, has an outstanding portfolio of architectural excellence, including iconic projects such as the National Stadium in Beijing, the Tate Modern in London, and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. For UniCredit’s headquarters, the firm has proposed an integrated design that combines architectural precision with innovative experimentation, paying special attention to the physical context of Scalo Farini.

The construction of the new headquarters will coincide with the regeneration of Scalo Farini, aligning with global trends in urban transformation and prioritizing environmental sustainability. UniCredit has already initiated the administrative process to approve the plan for the new headquarters.

Andrea Orcel, CEO of UniCredit Group, commented: “We are honored to partner with Herzog & de Meuron on our new headquarters. This project is not just about creating a modern and sustainable workplace for our employees; it’s also about contributing to the regeneration of Scalo Farini. We are committed to investing in Italy and to using this opportunity to drive social and environmental responsibility, ensuring the transformation of the area benefits both our people and the wider community.”

Jacques Herzog, co-founder of Herzog & de Meuron, added: “The opportunity to work on UniCredit’s headquarters in Milan is particularly exciting. Milan has become a key city for our practice, and we are proud to contribute to its architectural landscape. Our design will focus on both ecological and social sustainability, creating a building that rejects the traditional, isolated office tower in favor of an organic form that integrates gardens and green spaces throughout, enhancing the working environment.”
