To commemorate this milestone, U&Gold, the nation’s favorite comedy channel, will air a feature-length retrospective, The Good Life: Inside Out (1×120’). Produced by Double Yellow Entertainment, this special will delve into the making of the classic series, offering fans a heartfelt celebration of its enduring legacy. The special will air later this year on U&Gold.

Leading the retrospective is Dame Penelope Keith, the actress who famously portrayed the iconic Margo Leadbetter. With her unique insider perspective, Dame Penelope will guide viewers on an entertaining and emotional journey through the history of the sitcom. From its initial spark of inspiration to its lasting impact on British comedy, this special will highlight why The Good Life remains a cherished part of television history.

Packed with nostalgia, The Good Life: Inside Out will revisit filming locations, showcasing props and artifacts from the show’s production, including original scripts and production notes. A highlight of the special will be the recreation of Margo and Jerry Leadbetter’s iconic drawing room, with Dame Penelope Keith stepping back onto the set for the first time. In addition to Dame Penelope’s personal memories, the special will feature rare archival interviews with co-stars Richard Briers, Felicity Kendal, and Paul Eddington, as well as producer-director John Howard Davies.

The special is commissioned for UKTV by Helen Nightingale, Head of Factual and Factual Entertainment, and ordered by Gerald Casey, Director of Programming, Comedy and Entertainment, and Hilary Rosen, Director of Commissioning. Executive producers are Kirsty Hanson, Senior Commissioning Editor for UKTV, and Mark Wells for Double Yellow Entertainment.
