(PRESS RELEASE) LA DÉFENSE, 24-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Thales, a global leader in defense, aerospace, cybersecurity, and digital solutions, has entered into a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Qatar Airways, recently recognized as the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2024. The collaboration will see the establishment of a dedicated Inflight Entertainment (IFE) service and maintenance center in Doha, Qatar, designed to support the airline’s ongoing operational needs and growth ambitions.

The new local facility will focus on providing rapid, comprehensive services for Thales’ full range of IFE products, including repair, spare parts distribution, technical support, and line maintenance. This will enable Qatar Airways to maintain its operational excellence, further bolstering its ability to serve an expanding fleet of aircraft.

In alignment with Qatar Vision 2030, this partnership is expected to enhance the aerospace and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) ecosystem in Qatar, creating high-skilled job opportunities within the country. It reflects a significant step in strengthening Qatar Airways’ position as a global leader in aviation.

The MOU further strengthens the long-established relationship between Thales and Qatar Airways. Over the years, Thales has been the trusted IFE provider for a variety of Qatar Airways aircraft, including the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, A350, and A380. Mr. Ali Al Saadi, Chief MRO Officer at Qatar Airways, shared his enthusiasm for the evolving partnership: “We are excited to continue our successful collaboration with Thales. It’s crucial for us to stay ahead of technological advancements in aviation, and we believe that this partnership will help us achieve that goal.”

Thomas Got, Vice President of Aviation Global Services at Thales, added: “This MOU marks a new chapter in our partnership with Qatar Airways. It underscores our mutual dedication to operational excellence and sets the stage for the development of a local service hub in Doha, supporting Qatar Airways’ future growth.”
