(IN BRIEF) EASTEC and Thales have renewed their Maintenance Partnership Agreement, ensuring continued MRO support for China Eastern Airlines’ fleet through 2029. This extension builds on a successful collaboration that started in 2018 and highlights the ongoing commitment of both companies to the growing aviation market in China.

(PRESS RELEASE) LA DÉFENSE, 14-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Eastern Airlines Technic (EASTEC) and Thales have extended their Maintenance Partnership Agreement, further solidifying their ongoing collaboration in providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services. This renewed agreement builds on the successful partnership established in 2018 and marks a significant milestone in the decade-long relationship between the two companies.

Under the terms of the contract extension, Thales will continue to deliver essential support for EASTEC, enhancing its maintenance capabilities for the next five years. The services will focus on avionics equipment for China Eastern Airlines’ fleet of A320, A330, and B737 aircraft.

The signing ceremony took place on November 12, 2024, at the 15th Airshow in Zhuhai, China. The renewal ensures that Thales will provide comprehensive MRO services through 2029, reinforcing the company’s commitment to maintaining high-quality service standards and supporting the rapid growth of the aviation sector in China.

Thales will deliver services through its local maintenance center, Thales Aerospace Beijing Co., Ltd., and the Thales Aviation Global Services (AGS) center in Singapore, ensuring continuous, reliable support for China Eastern Airlines.

Since selecting Thales avionics equipment in 2014, China Eastern has outfitted 270 A320 aircraft with Thales Flight Management Systems (FMS), Low Range Radio Altimeters (LRRA), and T3CAS integrated surveillance solutions. The strategic maintenance cooperation agreement signed in 2018 further cemented the strong partnership between the two companies.

Thomas Got, Vice President of Aviation Global Services at Thales Avionics, commented, “We are thrilled to deepen our collaboration with EASTEC and strengthen our role as a trusted partner in the region. Leveraging our global expertise, we are committed to providing high-quality, premium solutions to EASTEC, China Eastern, and all our partners in the region.”
