SUEZ Appoints Xavier Girre as New CEO, Leveraging Extensive Leadership Experience in the Water and Waste Industries

(IN BRIEF) SUEZ’s Nomination and Compensation Committee has proposed Xavier Girre as the new CEO, recognizing his extensive experience in leadership, finance, and the water and waste industries. Girre, who has been involved with SUEZ as a Board member and CSR Committee Chairman since 2023, will spearhead the company’s growth strategy, focusing on meeting the needs of its clients and stakeholders.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 2-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — SUEZ’s Nomination and Compensation Committee, which convened on May 27, has unanimously recommended the appointment of Xavier Girre as the new CEO of SUEZ. With over 25 years of managerial, industrial, and financial experience, Xavier Girre has acquired in-depth expertise in the water and waste industries through his roles at Veolia Group. Additionally, his leadership experience spans his positions as a member of the executive committees of both La Poste and EDF Groups.

Xavier Girre is also well-acquainted with SUEZ, having served as a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Group’s CSR Committee since June 2023. This knowledge, combined with his broad business acumen, positions him well to lead SUEZ in addressing the evolving needs of its customers, local authorities, territories, and industrial clients. His leadership will help drive the Group’s growth strategy, benefiting all stakeholders.

Biography:
Xavier Girre, 56, joined EDF in 2015 as Chief Financial Officer for France. He has been the Group Senior Executive Vice President responsible for Performance, Impact, Investment, and Finance since 2024. Before joining EDF, Girre was Deputy CEO and CFO at La Poste from 2011 to 2015 and also served as Chairman of XAnge Private Equity. From 1999 to 2011, he held key roles at Veolia Environnement, including Chief Risk and Audit Officer and Deputy CEO and CFO of Veolia Transport and Veolia Propreté. Girre is also a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Audit Committee of La Française des Jeux. A graduate of HEC and IEP Paris, he is a former student of ENA and began his career at the French Cour des Comptes.
