Siemens Mobility Secures Major Contract to Power Singapore’s Cross Island Line

(IN BRIEF) Siemens Mobility has secured a 270 million Euro contract to lead a consortium in delivering the power supply system for Singapore’s Cross Island Line. The project will include the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of advanced electrical systems, enabling the fully automated and driverless MRT line. This contract strengthens Siemens Mobility’s ongoing partnership with Singapore’s Land Transport Authority and builds on the company’s extensive experience in the region’s rail infrastructure projects.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 19-Aug-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Siemens Mobility has been awarded a significant contract by the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) to lead a consortium, alongside Concord Corporation Pte Ltd, in delivering the power supply system for Singapore’s newest Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, the Cross Island Line (CRL). This contract, valued at approximately 270 million Euros, marks the third major project Siemens Mobility has undertaken for the CRL, following previous contracts for the Overhead Catenary Rigid Power Supply system and advanced signaling systems.

Comprehensive Power Supply Solution for the Cross Island Line

Under this new agreement, Siemens Mobility will be responsible for the complete design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the power supply system for the Cross Island Line. This will include key components such as 66kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), 22kV Medium Voltage Systems (MVS), and a 1500V DC system with double converter transformers and panels. Additionally, Siemens Mobility will integrate advanced digital technologies, including a Condition Monitoring System and an Intelligent Fault Isolation System (iFIS), to enhance performance management and ensure uninterrupted, efficient operations.

Enabling a Fully Automated and Driverless Future

The CRL will be fully automated and driverless, with Siemens Mobility’s digital power supply and signaling systems providing the backbone for this advanced rail network. The modular design of the power supply system will allow for future upgrades, ensuring the CRL remains at the cutting edge of technology and sustainability.

Michael Peter, CEO of Siemens Mobility, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “We are honored to be selected once again by the Singapore Land Transport Authority to contribute to this landmark infrastructure project. Our solutions will not only ensure reliable and safe electrification for the Cross Island Line but also support Singapore’s broader vision for a sustainable, digitally-integrated transportation network.”

Building on a Strong Partnership with Singapore

This contract further solidifies Siemens Mobility’s long-standing relationship with Singapore, where the company has played a pivotal role in several MRT projects. These include the signaling and power systems for the Jurong Region Line (JRL) and Tengah Depot, as well as electrification projects for the Circle Line Stage 6 and North-East Line extension.

Looking Ahead

With this latest contract, Siemens Mobility continues to demonstrate its commitment to delivering state-of-the-art rail infrastructure solutions that meet the evolving needs of urban transportation systems. The company’s ongoing partnership with Singapore underscores its expertise in combining innovative digital technologies with robust engineering to create efficient, reliable, and sustainable transit solutions.
