(PRESS RELEASE) GENEVA, 21-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — SGS has announced the acquisition of RTI Laboratories, a prominent provider of environmental and materials testing services based in Detroit, Michigan. This strategic acquisition strengthens SGS’s presence in North America, significantly enhancing its capabilities to meet the growing demands of its clients. The acquisition also brings 30 skilled employees into the SGS team, further bolstering its expertise and resources.

“The acquisition of RTI Laboratories is an important milestone in our Strategy 27 roadmap,” said Marcus Maguire, Head of Environment, Health, and Safety at SGS North America. “It positions SGS as a frontrunner in PFAS analysis, marking the addition of our eighth PFAS laboratory and our fifth certified by the Department of Defense. This acquisition also increases our capacity to support clients across the Midwest.”

RTI Laboratories’ integration further strengthens SGS’s material testing offerings, now including metallurgical testing, alloy chemistry, failure analysis, and paint and coating evaluations. “With this expansion, SGS can now offer a wider range of testing services and an enhanced local presence in Michigan, including convenient pickup and courier services,” Maguire added.

This acquisition plays a crucial role in SGS’s ongoing strategy to diversify its services, tapping into the rising demand for comprehensive environmental and materials testing. The addition of RTI Laboratories aligns with SGS’s goal of continuously expanding its capabilities to support the evolving needs of both commercial and Federal government clients.
