Road Movies on screen at the King’s Cross Filling Station

Film buffs enjoying a 12-day pit-stop of some of the best road movies ever made

23-4-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — The old forecourt canopy of the revamped King’s Cross Filling Station is inviting guests to fill up their tanks with some of the most iconic and thrilling road trips seen on the silver screen. The 12-day run of Everyman Road Movies at KXFS got under way this week with over 25 individual screenings which will run until Sunday 5th May – featuring Open Road classics such as Bonnie And Clyde, Easy Rider, Natural Born Killers, Thelma & Louise, The Graduate, Cars and Drive.

Guests are transported to 1960s California and into a retro-futurist world steeped in Americana at the former petrol station in N1. Keeping things authentic as possible, the Everyman cinema chain will stock the recently refurbished gas station bar with American hot dogs, beers, wine, cocktails, popcorn and bottomless filter coffee – minus the obligatory dollar tip. Tickets to each road movie cost £15 and everyone is provided with headphones and a blanket.

Tucked away behind King’s Cross station and overlooking the Regent’s Canal, KXFS rises from the remnants of a disused BP garage. The result is a landmark water-side social and cultural space enveloped on three sides by a curved glowing screen. Located in the heart of the redeveloped King’s Cross area, KXFS is an integral part of one of London’s newest neighbourhoods, bustling with bars, shops, green spaces, artists’ warehouses and some top London Restaurants.

Everyman Road Movies at KXFS gets London’s rich and varied open-air summer film screening season under way. Less than a week later, the popular Rooftop Film Club gets its season off to a suitably vertiginous start at The Roof Gardens on High Street Kensington (with Breakfast at Tiffany’s on Monday 29th April) and The Queen of Hoxton (with Anchorman on Wednesday 1st May).
