Philips and Myocardial Solutions Collaborate to Enhance Cardio-Oncology Care with AI-Powered Imaging

(IN BRIEF) Philips and Myocardial Solutions have collaborated to bring innovative, AI-driven imaging technologies to the field of cardio-oncology. By enhancing early detection of heart disease in cancer patients, this partnership aims to improve survival rates and quality of life. Their efforts include faster, high-quality scans and a helium-free mobile MRI system to increase accessibility to high-standard cardiac care.

(PRESS RELEASE) AMSTERDAM, 1-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — In a strategic collaboration, Philips has joined forces with Myocardial Solutions, a leader in cardiac imaging technologies, to revolutionize the field of cardio-oncology. The partnership aims to address a critical need for cancer patients and survivors: early detection of heart disease, often caused by cardiotoxicity from cancer treatments. This collaboration promises to improve survival rates and quality of life for these patients by enabling earlier identification and intervention for heart-related complications.

AI-Driven Innovation Enhances Early Detection

The joint effort between Philips and Myocardial Solutions is focused on utilizing cutting-edge imaging technologies to detect early signs of cardiotoxicity. Tools such as Fast-SENC and MyoStrain are designed to measure subtle changes in heart function, enabling the detection of heart failure signs across 48 segments of the heart. These advances allow clinicians to identify dysfunction before it impacts the entire heart, all in under 10 minutes, with less than 5 minutes of analysis time.

AI-Powered Imaging Optimizes Efficiency and Quality

Philips has also integrated AI-driven technologies like SmartSpeed and Compressed SENSE to accelerate cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) scans. These innovations can enhance the speed and accuracy of scans by up to three times, while maintaining high-quality images. The technologies support both 2D and 3D imaging, even in challenging cases, thus improving diagnostic confidence and streamlining clinical workflows. This focus on reducing exam times while maintaining image quality offers a significant advantage for both clinicians and patients.

Sustainability at the Core of the Innovation

Alongside technological advancements, Philips is addressing environmental concerns with its BlueSeal system, a helium-free MRI solution that reduces carbon footprints. The first and only mobile MRI system with BlueSeal technology, Philips is extending its reach to underserved areas, including rural clinics, providing the same high-quality imaging found in hospitals.

Ioannis Panagiotelis, Business Leader of MR at Philips, remarked, “By combining our innovative BlueSeal innovation and SmartSpeed technologies with Myocardial Solutions’ expertise, we aim to set new standards in cardiac care while also focusing on environmental sustainability and greater accessibility.”

Collaborative Presentation at SCMR Conference

The partnership will showcase its achievements at the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) Annual Scientific Congress in Washington D.C., where Prof. Dr. Sebastian Kelle will present his experience with the Philips-Myocardial Solutions technologies.

Philips continues to push boundaries in medical imaging by not only advancing diagnostic capabilities but also aligning its work with global sustainability goals.
