NRO Evaluation Highlights Success and Future Opportunities in Advancing Educational Research

(IN BRIEF) The Netherlands Initiative for Education Research (NRO) has been praised for its effective and transparent operations between 2019 and 2023 in an independent evaluation by Dialogic. The report commends NRO’s role in advancing education quality through research programming, funding, and knowledge dissemination, while offering recommendations to improve resource allocation, transparency, and stakeholder engagement. NRO leadership welcomes the findings as validation of its progress and a guide for future development, with ambitions to equip schools and policymakers with robust scientific knowledge to address key educational challenges. (PRESS RELEASE) THE HAGUE, 26-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — The Netherlands Initiative for Education Research (NRO) has been recognized for its effective, efficient, and transparent operations during the period 2019-2023, according to a recent independent evaluation by Dialogic. The report, while lauding NRO’s achievements, also provides recommendations to further enhance its impact on educational research and practice.

Supporting Education Through Research

NRO’s mission, “Using knowledge from research to contribute to strengthening the quality of education,” drives its efforts in programming and funding educational studies and disseminating their results. Key Evaluation Findings

However, it also outlined areas for improvement, recommending that NRO:

• Balance structural and additional resources more effectively
• Develop a clearer vision for how research knowledge is utilized
• Increase transparency in programming additional resources
• Strengthen engagement with the education sector
