NORMA Group Secures Contract for Energy Storage Facility in Germany
(IN BRIEF) NORMA Group has secured a contract to supply V-band clamps for a German energy storage facility, supporting the cooling system of large stationary batteries. The contract, valued at EUR 2.4 million, spans from 2024 to 2028, providing between 30,000 and 180,000 clamps annually. This initiative highlights NORMA Group’s role in advancing renewable energy infrastructure.
(PRESS RELEASE) MAINTAL/NEWBURY, 6-Aug-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — NORMA Group has been awarded a contract to supply V-band clamps for a major energy storage facility in Germany. The facility, operated by a leading provider of flexible metal tubes, will utilize these clamps in its cooling system. The contract, spanning from summer 2024 to the end of 2028, involves supplying between 30,000 and 180,000 clamps annually, with a total contract value of approximately EUR 2.4 million.
Guido Grandi, CEO of NORMA Group, emphasized the significance of this contract: “With the inconsistent availability of wind and solar energy, stationary energy storage is crucial for the transition to renewable energy. Our goal is to expand our presence in energy-storage applications, ensuring a reliable and resilient energy supply. Our innovative capabilities and established quality standards make us an ideal partner for critical infrastructure projects.”
The energy storage facility will use large stationary batteries to store electricity, helping to alleviate overloads or bottlenecks in the wind energy supply within the power transmission network. The clamps will be part of the facility’s thermal management system, where a glycol-water mixture will circulate to maintain optimal battery temperatures, enhancing their performance.
Developed in 2019 by NORMA Group engineers, the VPP Bi-Cone clamp is a highly efficient connector for metal tubes, creating a leak-tight joint by connecting two conical flanges. These clamps will be manufactured at NORMA Group’s plant in Newbury, UK.
