WARWICK, 16-Jun-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Over £4000 has been raised from a variety show performance organised by National Grid’s choir to enable Round Oak School’s Music of Life programme to continue.

The show included acts from National Grid’s choir, Gridtones, who performed with Round Oak choir and other National Grid acts at the Bridge House Theatre, Warwick.

Round Oak are a special education school based in Warwick and one of National Grid’s Employability Partner schools. The Music of Life programme provides numerous mental health and wellbeing benefits to the pupils.

Ruth Turnbull, Assistant Director of the Gridtones and Communications Assistant at National Grid said, “Our goal is to engage employees and those in the community, promoting positive mental health and wellbeing through song.  Our choir has had the privilege of singing with Round Oak choir on several occasions.  So when we heard that the funding for the Music of Life programme had been reduced we wanted to do something to help.”

The money raised means the programme can continue for another 18 months.

Jane Naylor, Head Teacher of Round Oak School said, “Thanks to the magnificent efforts from everyone involved, Round Oak School Choir can continue its work through the next year.”
