To access the discount, customers need to sign up for Purpl and verify their disability status. (PRESS RELEASE) BRADFORD, 25-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Morrisons has teamed up with Purpl, a discount platform catering to the disabled community in the UK, to offer exclusive online savings. The supermarket chain is now providing a 10% discount on grocery orders of £25 or more through the platform, which will benefit the 16.1 million people, or approximately 24% of the UK population, who live with a disability.

To access the discount, customers need to sign up for Purpl’s free service and verify their disability status using accepted documentation such as a PIP, DLA, Blue Badge, Disabled Bus Pass, or Disabled Persons Railcard. Once verified, customers will receive a unique discount code, which can be applied at checkout on the Morrisons website.

This initiative is part of a trial designed to assess the impact of the discount on the disabled community across the UK. With the discount, disabled households could save up to £11.70 per week, £46.40 per month, and an impressive £556.80 annually. In addition to groceries, the discount also applies to party food orders through Morrisons’ Food to Order service, which can be added to regular grocery purchases.

Morrisons’ delivery service allows customers to have their groceries delivered the same day or up to four weeks in advance, with delivery slots starting at £1.50. For even greater savings, customers can combine the 10% discount with Morrisons’ loyalty programme, the More Card, which offers additional exclusive discounts and rewards.

Charlotte Exell, Director of Online and Ability Lead at Morrisons, highlighted the initiative’s importance: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Purpl to make Morrisons more accessible to disabled customers. This partnership will help alleviate some of the additional living expenses that disabled people face, and we hope it can contribute to lowering grocery costs.”

Purpl, created by Georgina Colman in July 2024, was designed to address the extra costs that disabled people incur in their daily lives. Colman, who lives with multiple sclerosis and ADHD, explained, “Living with a disability can be costly, and I’m thrilled that this partnership will help ease the financial strain for our members by supporting their weekly grocery shop.”

In addition to discounts at Morrisons, Purpl members can access deals with a variety of other brands, including Hoover, Sky, and Debenhams, as well as useful advice and guidance to support those living with a disability.
