Linde accelerates U.S. space launch support with major gas capacity boosts in Florida and a new Texas ASU coming online by 2026–2027

(IN BRIEF) Linde has signed two new long-term agreements to supply bulk industrial gases for U.S. rocket launches and will invest accordingly in two key sites. The company will expand its Mims, Florida facility—previously enlarged in 2020 and 2024—to add more liquid oxygen and nitrogen capacity by Q1 2027. Separately, Linde will construct and operate a new air separation unit in Brownsville, Texas, scheduled for Q1 2026, to provide liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon for regional space activities and bolster its merchant network. With a legacy spanning over 60 years—from Apollo-era support to modern satellite propulsion and 3D-printed engine parts—Linde supplied gases for more than 100 launches in 2024. CEO Sanjiv Lamba emphasized continued investment to meet accelerating space-sector demand. Linde reported $33 billion in 2024 sales and serves diverse industries with technologies that advance productivity and sustainability.

(PRESS RELEASE) WOKING, 22-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Linde (Nasdaq: LIN) unveiled a fresh wave of investments aimed at powering the next chapter of space exploration, securing two new long-term contracts to supply bulk industrial gases for rocket launches. These agreements reinforce Linde’s position at the forefront of the fast-growing U.S. space market.

Under the deals, Linde will substantially enlarge its industrial gases complex in Mims, Florida, boosting production of liquid oxygen and nitrogen for nearby launch operations. The added capacity is slated to come online in the first quarter of 2027, extending a trajectory of growth at the Mims site that already saw expansions in 2020 and 2024 to meet surging regional demand.

In a separate move that further cements its role in the sector, Linde will design, build, own and run a new air separation unit (ASU) in Brownsville, Texas. Targeted to start up in the first quarter of 2026, the facility will supply liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon for a customer’s space activities in the area. The Brownsville plant will also strengthen Linde’s broader U.S. supply network and increase merchant product availability throughout Texas.

Linde’s heritage in space stretches back more than six decades—from supplying liquid oxygen to the Apollo missions in the 1960s to today’s contributions to satellite propulsion systems that rely on rare gases, rigorous spacecraft component testing and even 3D printing of rocket engine parts. In 2024 alone, Linde supported over 100 successful launches, underpinning mission-critical systems at every stage.

“Space exploration is advancing rapidly, with missions growing in ambition and scale,” said Sanjiv Lamba, Chief Executive Officer of Linde. “Linde is proud to support this growing sector with innovative and efficient technologies and solutions. As demand increases, we will continue investing alongside our customers and expanding our strong presence both in the southern United States and globally.”
