(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 7-Jun-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Today, Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) launched the 600 V CoolMOS™ S7TA Superjunction MOSFET, a breakthrough innovation tailored for automotive power management applications. This cutting-edge technology incorporates an integrated temperature sensor, setting new standards in accuracy and performance for automotive electronics.

Specifically designed to meet the demanding requirements of automotive environments, the CoolMOS S7TA enhances durability, safety, and efficiency – essential qualities for automotive power management solutions. Building on the success of its industrial counterpart, the CoolMOS S7T, the S7TA integrates a temperature sensor, offering superior junction temperature sensing accuracy.

The CoolMOS S7TA is ideally suited for solid-state relay (SSR) applications, boasting exceptional R DS(on) and sensing accuracy crucial for various automotive electronic devices. By combining a Superjunction MOSFET with an embedded temperature sensor, the S7TA ensures reliable operation even under extreme overload conditions, a critical aspect for automotive applications where reliability is paramount.

With a 40 percent increase in accuracy and up to four times faster response time compared to standalone on-board sensors, the embedded sensor of the S7TA delivers advanced temperature monitoring capabilities. This enables individual monitoring within multi-device systems, enhancing reliability and preventing thermal issues that can lead to system failures.

Moreover, the optimized power transistor utilization of the CoolMOS S7TA ensures precise control of the output stage, leading to reduced power consumption and energy costs – vital considerations in automotive applications. Compared to traditional electromechanical relays, the S7TA offers significant improvements in total power dissipation.

Additionally, the CoolMOS S7TA features a high overcurrent threshold, enhancing SSR reliability and reducing the risk of failures. This robust switching solution contributes to safer vehicle operations and extends the lifecycle of automotive relays, resulting in lower maintenance and replacement costs.

The 600 V CoolMOS S7TA is poised to revolutionize critical automotive components such as circuit breakers, high-voltage battery disconnect switches, low-frequency switches for both DC and AC, and high-voltage electronic fuses (HV eFuses).

Infineon also introduces the EVAL_eFuse_PoC_400V_S7, a proof-of-concept board demonstrating the robustness and versatility of automotive eFuse solutions. This board showcases a reliable method for safeguarding automotive electrical systems, offering adaptability to various operating conditions and voltage classes.

Both the 600 V CoolMOS S7T in automotive and industrial grades are already available, featuring QDPAK TSC and BSC packages with R DS(on) ranging from 17 to 40 mΩ. The 10 mΩ variant will join the lineup in the second half of 2024. For further information, visit www.infineon.com/s7ta and www.infineon.com/s7t.
