INDUS Advances Engineering Strategy with Acquisition of Amira to Expand Sterile Environment Technologies

(IN BRIEF) INDUS Holding AG is expanding its Engineering segment through the planned acquisition of Italian biodecontamination specialist Amira S.r.l. by its subsidiary MBRAUN. The acquisition strengthens MBRAUN’s process technology capabilities and expands INDUS’ presence in Southern Europe while providing access to new markets in pharmaceuticals and life sciences. Amira’s vaporised hydrogen peroxide sterilisation systems complement MBRAUN’s glovebox and gas purification technologies and create opportunities for joint product development and global sales growth. The acquisition forms part of INDUS’ EMPOWERING MITTELSTAND strategy and follows earlier international expansions, including the acquisition of METFAB in the United States.

(PRESS RELEASE) BERGISCH GLADBACH, 24-Feb-2026 — /EuropaWire/ —INDUS Holding AG is continuing the expansion of its Engineering segment through the planned acquisition of Amira S.r.l. by its subsidiary M.BRAUN Inertgas-Systeme GmbH (MBRAUN). The agreement covers the purchase of the Italian company, which specialises in biodecontamination technologies based on vaporised hydrogen peroxide (V-PHP). The transaction remains subject to approval by the relevant Italian authorities.

Amira, headquartered in Triuggio near Milan, has more than two decades of experience in rapid and reliable sterilisation and decontamination solutions for laboratory and industrial environments. The company operates a production facility in northern Italy and generates annual revenues exceeding €7 million. The acquisition strengthens MBRAUN’s process technology capabilities and represents its second international add-on acquisition.

The addition of Amira enhances INDUS’ presence in Southern Europe while expanding its technology portfolio within the Engineering segment. The acquisition introduces complementary products and opens additional growth opportunities in international markets, particularly in sectors with demanding technical and regulatory requirements.

Amira’s low-temperature dry-gas decontamination technologies are widely used in pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology and life sciences applications, as well as in hospitals, electronics production facilities, universities and research institutions. The company’s established position in pharmaceutical and life sciences markets provides MBRAUN with access to new customer segments and high-growth industries characterised by significant barriers to entry.

MBRAUN, part of the INDUS Group since 2002, develops glovebox systems and gas purification technologies designed to maintain controlled environments for research and industrial processes. The integration of Amira’s solutions expands MBRAUN’s engineering capabilities in sterile and contamination-sensitive production environments.

Amira designs and produces V-PHP decontamination systems along with solutions for contamination-free material transfer, pass boxes, laminar airflow systems and monitoring and measurement equipment. In addition to equipment manufacturing, the company provides consulting, validation, maintenance and calibration services. These technologies are applied in cleanrooms, transfer zones, isolators and glovebox environments where reliable microbiological decontamination is essential.

The technological compatibility between Amira and MBRAUN is expected to support joint product development while creating synergies in engineering design, project execution and global sales activities.

The acquisition also supports MBRAUN’s international growth strategy. The company already maintains operations in France, the United Kingdom, China, India, South Korea and the United States. In 2025, INDUS strengthened MBRAUN’s presence in North America through the acquisition of the U.S.-based precision manufacturer METFAB. International expansion remains a central pillar of the INDUS EMPOWERING MITTELSTAND strategy, with acquisitions in Europe and global markets planned to support long-term growth.

Amira founder Angelo Delmiglio highlighted the opportunities created by the transaction, noting that MBRAUN’s international sales network will enable the company to expand into new markets more rapidly. Amira has maintained a long-standing partnership with MBRAUN and has represented the group’s product portfolio in Italy since 2006, providing a strong foundation for future cooperation.
