(PRESS RELEASE) ESSEN, 13-Apr-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — A joint venture headed by HOCHTIEF Infrastructure has secured a major contract to modernize the military airport in Čáslav, a strategically important base for the Czech Air Force. The project, valued at approximately EUR 220 million, represents a significant investment in strengthening the operational capabilities and long-term reliability of the facility.

The upgrade is essential to ensure that the airport can continue to safely support advanced aviation systems used by the Army of the Czech Republic as well as allied forces from NATO. The existing runway infrastructure has not undergone a full-scale reconstruction for several decades, with only limited maintenance carried out over time. This modernization is therefore a critical step toward maintaining the base’s functionality for future operations.

The scope of the project covers a comprehensive overhaul of the runway, alongside the modernization of the airport’s lighting systems. Additional infrastructure required to ensure safe and efficient airport operations will also be upgraded as part of the works.

Construction activities are scheduled to take place during a full closure of the airport, beginning in April 2026 and continuing through to the latter part of 2028. This timeline allows for the extensive redevelopment required to bring the facility up to modern operational standards.

With its strong engineering focus, HOCHTIEF Infrastructure is contributing technical expertise to deliver complex aviation and transport infrastructure projects. The company’s involvement in the Čáslav modernization reflects its broader capability to manage large-scale projects across all stages of development, from design through to execution.
