Formerly Director of Operations Technology at Codelco, Vargas brings deep expertise in automation, safety systems, and digital transformation. With over 30 years of experience in the tech sector—20 of which are rooted in mining—Vargas is poised to strengthen Hexagon’s strategic growth across South America’s key mining markets.

Prior to joining Hexagon, Vargas held the role of Director of Operations Technology at Codelco, where she played a vital role in the digital modernization of one of the world’s most important mining companies. Her expertise spans mining automation, integrated operations centres, dispatch systems, safety technology, and enterprise-level digital transformation strategies.

With a robust educational background, Vargas is an Electronic Civil Engineer with two master’s degrees—one in Maintenance and Asset Management from UTFSM and another in Financial Strategy from Adolfo Ibáñez University. She also holds a diploma in Strategic Leadership and has mentored students as a part-time professor at UTFSM.

Vargas will be based in Santiago, Chile, leading efforts to expand Hexagon’s footprint across both Chile and Argentina. Her leadership comes at a time when the mining industry is undergoing transformative shifts, with digital solutions increasingly viewed as critical to sustainable and productive operations.

Hexagon will showcase its mining technologies at Expomin 2025, from April 22 to 25 at Booth 1-A50, Espacio Riesco, Santiago.
