(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 21-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — EssilorLuxottica has entered into an agreement to acquire the optical division of South Korea-based PUcore, including all its assets and subsidiaries involved in the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of monomers used in the production of high index ophthalmic lenses. This strategic acquisition aims to enhance the Group’s innovation capabilities, strengthen sustainable sourcing, and deepen upstream integration in its supply chain.

The transaction will bring under the EssilorLuxottica umbrella a research and development center, a materials production facility, and a sales office located in the Republic of Korea. In addition, the Group will acquire PUcore’s intellectual property portfolio, including product formulation and production process patents—further reinforcing EssilorLuxottica’s commitment to technological leadership in the ophthalmic industry.

“We are pleased to welcome PUcore’s optical division and its talented teams into our organization,” said Francesco Milleri, Chairman and CEO, and Paul du Saillant, Deputy CEO of EssilorLuxottica. “This move is in line with our strategy to elevate standards in lens innovation, production, and sustainability.
