Energiekontor Secures 2025 EMAS Recertification, Showcasing Strong Environmental Progress

(IN BRIEF) Energiekontor AG—a leading German wind and solar park developer and operator based in Bremen—has successfully passed its 2025 EMAS audit, securing continued certification under the EU’s Eco-Management and Audit Scheme. EMAS builds on ISO 14001 standards and imposes additional environmental requirements. First certified in 2022, Energiekontor set multiple environmental targets in its initial statement; today, it has nearly met all of them. An updated environmental statement for its Bremen site, now available online, highlights achieved milestones and outlines next steps for further performance improvements. Management Board member Günter Eschen emphasises that EMAS certification both recognises past successes and propels the company’s ongoing sustainability agenda.

(PRESS RELEASE) BREMEN, 20-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Energiekontor AG, the Bremen-based German pioneer in developing and operating wind and solar parks and a listed company in the General Standard, has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship by successfully completing its annual EMAS audit. With this achievement, Energiekontor reaffirms its EMAS certification for operational environmental management.

The Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), established by the European Union, offers organisations a robust framework to monitor, report, and enhance their environmental performance. EMAS encompasses all requirements of the globally recognised ISO 14001 standard and sets additional, rigorous criteria. By securing recertification, Energiekontor underscores that sustainability isn’t merely aspirational—it is woven into the fabric of its corporate values.

Originally certified under EMAS in 2022, Energiekontor established a series of ambitious environmental objectives in its inaugural environmental statement. After two years of systematic effort, the company has nearly fulfilled all its targets. To mark the recertification milestone, Energiekontor has released an updated environmental statement for its Bremen headquarters, detailing both accomplishments to date and forthcoming initiatives to drive further environmental enhancement. Stakeholders can access the full report at www.energiekontor.de/en/investor-relations/sustainability-esg.

“From our earliest days, sustainability and environmental responsibility have been core to Energiekontor’s mission,” remarked Günter Eschen, Member of the Management Board. “Achieving renewed EMAS certification not only validates our past efforts but also energises us for the journey ahead. EMAS enables us to present our environmental actions transparently and measurably, ensuring we continually raise the bar and contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future.”
