(IN BRIEF) The KlimaWandelBus project has introduced a uniquely designed Mercedes‑Benz electric bus into regular service within the Teutoburg Forest/Egge Hills Nature Park. Handed over to key transport companies during a high-profile event on 27 March 2025, the bus is set to serve a dual purpose: operating on standard routes while acting as an interactive educational tool on climate change. With a striking interior that features real wood finishes, nature-inspired floor and wall designs, and advanced information modules, the bus is designed to educate passengers on the impacts of climate change. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the nature park—which spans 2,751 square kilometres—to blend transportation with environmental education, making the subject of climate change both accessible and tangible to the public.

(PRESS RELEASE) LEINFELDEN-ECHTERDINGEN, 28-Mar-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — In an exciting development for climate education, the KlimaWandelBus—a specially designed Mercedes‑Benz electric bus—is now in operation within the Teutoburg Forest/Egge Hills Nature Park. This innovative vehicle was formally handed over to go.on, Gesellschaft für Bus- und Schienenverkehr mbH, and Kommunale Verkehrsgesellschaft Lippe (KVG) mbH during an event in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. The ceremony on 27 March 2025 featured key industry figures, including Robert Wilhelm, Head of eMobility Sales Coordination at Daimler Buses, and Jens Dilley, Sales Director at Mercedes‑Benz Buses, along with regional leaders such as Dörte Pieper, Managing Director of Naturpark Teutoburger Wald/Eggegebirge, and Dirk Hänsgen, Managing Director of go.on. Also present were Achim Oberwöhrmeier and Matthias Kalkreuter from KVG, with Dr. Axel Lehmann representing the county and nature park.

The KlimaWandelBus project, initiated by the Teutoburg Forest/Egge Hills Nature Park, is set to transform public awareness about climate change. With its dual role as a scheduled service bus and an “infomobile,” the eCitaro will traverse regular routes, while also serving as a mobile educational platform at events and school programs throughout the nature park. Its interior, featuring uniquely crafted wooden seats, a floor mimicking a forest floor, grass-textured center aisle, and walls adorned with expansive forest imagery, has been designed to immerse passengers in the themes of environmental change and sustainability. Complementing the interior design are two integrated information modules located at the front of the bus. These modules, equipped with touchscreen monitors and intuitive menu systems, provide both visual and auditory insights into climate research, ensuring that every journey becomes an engaging learning experience.
