EIF Commits €75 Million to Serena Infra II for Green Infrastructure Expansion

(IN BRIEF) The EIF has invested €75 million in Serena Infra II—managed by Serena Industrial Partners—with a €250 million target to fund early‑stage sustainable mobility, water, social, digital infrastructure, and energy transition projects across Europe; supported by the EU’s InvestEU programme and aligned with the EIB Group’s climate and sustainability priorities, the fund aims to deploy capital into eight to ten assets, each receiving around €25 million to €30 million.

(PRESS RELEASE) LUXEMBOURG, 22-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The European Investment Fund (EIF), a member of the EIB Group specialising in equity investments for SMEs and mid‑caps, has committed €75 million to Serena Infra II SCA SICAV‑RAIF, an infrastructure fund targeting €250 million in capital. Managed by Serena Industrial Partners, this pan‑European vehicle will back early‑stage projects in sustainable mobility, water, social and digital infrastructure, and energy transition ventures—ranging from biogas and biomass facilities to energy‑efficiency upgrades. Serena Infra II plans to build a diversified portfolio of eight to ten assets, each typically attracting investments of €25 million to €30 million.

The operation is supported by InvestEU, the European Union’s programme designed to catalyse over €372 billion of investments by 2027, and aligns with the EIB Group’s 2024‑2027 Strategic Roadmap, emphasising climate action and environmental sustainability. This marks a continuation of the EIF’s dedication to funding projects that drive the transition to a low‑carbon economy and enhance sustainable transport networks.
