Dawn Summers Proposed for Equinor Board of Directors, Along with Re-Election of Key Leadership Members

(IN BRIEF) Equinor ASA’s nomination committee has proposed Dawn Summers as a new member of the board of directors, with her election taking effect from 1 September 2025. In addition, re-elections for Jon Erik Reinhardsen as chair, Anne Drinkwater as deputy chair, and other current board members are recommended. Summers, a seasoned leader with extensive experience in the energy sector, has held senior roles at Harbour Energy, Wintershall Dea, Beach Energy, and Origin Energy. She is also a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion and has made significant contributions to European energy policy.

(PRESS RELEASE) STAVANGER, 26-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Equinor ASA (OSE:EQNR, NYSE:EQNR), an oil, gas, wind and solar energy company active in more than 30 markets globally, announces that its nomination committee of Equinor ASA has recommended that Dawn Summers be elected as a new member of the company’s board of directors. In addition, the committee proposes the re-election of Jon Erik Reinhardsen as chair and Anne Drinkwater as deputy chair of the board. The committee also recommends the re-election of Finn Bjørn Ruyter, Haakon Bruun-Hanssen, Mikael Karlsson, Fernanda Lopes Larsen, and Tone Hegland Bachke as board members. Jonathan Lewis, a current board member, will resign on 30 June 2025, and it is proposed that Dawn Summers’ election will take effect on 1 September 2025.

Dawn Summers has a robust leadership background, having served as Interim Chief Operating Officer at Harbour Energy from 2024 to 2025, where she oversaw business continuity and integration following Harbour Energy’s acquisition of Wintershall Dea. Summers previously served as Chief Operating Officer and board member at Wintershall Dea from 2020 to 2024, leading safe business operations and the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) and hydrogen projects. Before that, she held COO roles at Beach Energy (2018-2020) and Origin Energy (2016-2018), and was executive Head of HSE, Operations & Developments at General Energy (2013-2015). Summers also held various positions at BP plc from 1995 to 2013.

In addition to her corporate experience, Summers is actively engaged in European energy policy. She previously chaired the European Board of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP), leading strategic discussions with EU institutions on energy transition and energy security. She also served as President of GasNaturally, focusing on climate resilience across the gas value chain.

Summers is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in the energy sector and is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of women leaders in STEM fields. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering (with Honours) in Chemical Engineering from Edinburgh University and an Executive Operations Leadership qualification from MIT Sloan School of Management.

The election of board members will take place during Equinor’s corporate assembly meeting on 2 June 2025. If approved, the election of board members will take effect on 1 July 2025, with the exception of Dawn Summers, whose election will take effect on 1 September 2025, and all elections will be valid until the next ordinary election in June 2026.
