INGELHEIM, 10-Nov-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Boehringer Ingelheim today announced its new partnership with the Cat Friendly Clinic programme in Europe, Asia, Africa and Australasia. The programme was set up in 2012 by the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM), which is the veterinary division of the UK-based charity International Cat Care (ICC).  Both Boehringer Ingelheim and ICC share a common interest in promoting an understanding of feline behaviour and developing cat friendly environments and commit to lead this change of mindset together. The Cat Friendly Clinic programme brings a full set of innovative resources to support, educate, and raise the level of care for feline patients.

Recognizing the cats’ unique nature and needs, the Cat Friendly Clinic programme was developed to raise the standards of care and welfare of cats in the veterinary clinic. It provides veterinarians with practical solutions to problems that they often face when dealing with their feline patients.

Through this partnership, Boehringer Ingelheim will actively promote the programme and develop specific informational tools and services to grow veterinarians’ and cat owners’ knowledge. The programme aims to foster veterinary clinics to think and operate in a more “cat friendly” way to improve the health and wellbeing of cats and to enhance the clinic experience for cats and their owners. The goal is to encourage owners to bring their cats to the veterinarian more frequently* and to make the experience as stress-free as possible, thereby increasing efficiency and treatment compliance.

Shawn Hooker, Head of Strategic Business Unit Pet Vet at Boehringer Ingelheim, said:  “We are passionate about the lifelong wellbeing of cats, and are proud to support the ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic programme. We share a common goal with ISFM to ensure that all cats receive optimal veterinary care throughout their lives, with regular, stress-free health checks and preventive healthcare, and with early diagnosis and treatment of disease”.
