(IN BRIEF) Bilfinger has been appointed to supervise the installation of the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms in the Polish Baltic Sea, a joint initiative by Equinor and Polenergia that will include around 100 turbines with a total capacity of 1,440 MW. The company’s responsibilities cover overseeing turbine installation, offshore substations, export cable deployment exceeding 120 kilometers, and landfall connections, alongside ensuring compliance, safety, and quality standards. Building on its previous involvement in the onshore phase, Bilfinger’s expanded role underscores strong collaboration with project partners. Once operational, the wind farms are expected to supply clean energy to approximately two million households, marking a significant contribution to Poland’s renewable energy goals, regional energy security, and the Baltic Sea’s emergence as a major offshore wind hub.

(PRESS RELEASE) WARSAW, 24-Mar-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Bilfinger has secured a key role in overseeing the installation phase of the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind projects in the Polish Baltic Sea, a large-scale renewable energy initiative jointly developed by Equinor and Polenergia. The international industrial services provider will deliver comprehensive supervision services across critical offshore construction activities, reinforcing its presence in Central and Eastern Europe’s evolving energy sector.

The Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 wind farms will collectively feature around 100 turbines, delivering a combined installed capacity of 1,440 MW. This positions the development among the most significant offshore wind investments in Poland, contributing substantially to the country’s renewable energy ambitions while strengthening regional energy resilience.

Bilfinger’s scope of work includes supervising the installation of offshore substations, turbine assembly, and the deployment of export cables spanning more than 120 kilometers. The company will also oversee landfall operations, ensuring seamless integration between offshore infrastructure and onshore systems. In addition to construction oversight, Bilfinger will monitor compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements, manage safety and quality standards, and provide technical guidance and reporting to project stakeholders.

Jaromír Kříž, President Central Eastern Europe at Bilfinger, highlighted the importance of the assignment, noting that the company’s expanded involvement—from earlier onshore collaboration to now offshore supervision—reflects continued confidence in its capabilities. He emphasized Bilfinger’s commitment to delivering high standards of execution, safety, and operational efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.

Once completed, the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 wind farms are expected to generate sufficient clean electricity to power approximately two million households. The projects represent a major step forward in establishing the Baltic Sea as a leading region for offshore wind development while supporting Poland’s transition toward a more sustainable and secure energy system.
