BAE Systems strengthens European defence mobility with first BvS10 deliveries under joint procurement deal

(IN BRIEF) BAE Systems has delivered the first three BvS10 Armored Personnel Carriers to Sweden, Germany, and the UK under the Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle program. Built at BAE Systems Hägglunds in Sweden, the vehicles form part of a multinational framework agreement for 663 units to be supplied by 2028, with Sweden receiving 236, the UK 60, and Germany 140. Germany has also contracted an additional 227 vehicles under the same arrangement, demonstrating the success of the procurement model. The BvS10’s articulated system allows unrivalled mobility across extreme terrains and includes amphibious capability, while its modular design supports missions ranging from troop transport and logistics to medical evacuation and weapons carriage. Already used by Austria, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the UK, the BvS10 continues to strengthen NATO’s mobility capabilities.

(PRESS RELEASE) FARNBOROUGH, 18-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — BAE Systems has officially handed over the first three BvS10 Armored Personnel Carriers to Sweden, Germany, and the United Kingdom as part of the Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV) program. The ceremonial delivery at BAE Systems Hägglunds in Sweden marks a major milestone in the multinational procurement initiative, which aims to provide participating nations with a highly versatile, modern, and mission-ready capability for operations in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

The delivered vehicles, based on the latest Swedish-operated BvS10 design, include variants for troop transport, logistics, medical evacuation, recovery, and command and control. They are the first of 663 vehicles ordered under the joint framework agreement, a model that sets a new benchmark for international defence collaboration. Under the arrangement, 236 vehicles will be supplied to Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), 60 to the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), and 140 to Germany’s Federal Ministry of Defence (BAAINBw) by 2028.

Germany has also exercised an additional order for 227 BvS10s under the same contractual framework, underscoring the flexibility and success of the procurement model, which allows other nations to join seamlessly in future.

Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, Managing Director of BAE Systems Hägglunds, highlighted the significance of the program: “The extreme mobility and adaptability of the BvS10 give our customers a reliable, high-tech solution that is immediately operational in the harshest conditions. Thanks to the collaborative procurement structure, nations can easily acquire and field these advanced capabilities to strengthen their defence readiness.”

Renowned for its world-class all-terrain performance, the BvS10 uses an articulated mobility system that ensures maneuverability across snow, ice, sand, mud, swamps, and steep mountainous areas, while its amphibious capability allows it to operate in coastal and flooded regions. Its modular design means it can be rapidly reconfigured for a wide range of missions, from troop transport and logistics support to medical evacuation, command and control, and weapons carriage.

The BvS10 is already in service with Austria, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, further cementing its role as NATO’s reference standard for all-terrain vehicles.
