(PRESS RELEASE) COLOMBES, 23-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Arkema, a global leader in Specialty Materials, has unveiled its new ENCOR® range of bio-based waterborne dispersions designed specifically for textile printing and finishing applications. These innovative binders, which feature up to 30% bio-based content and offer up to a 40% reduction in carbon footprint compared to traditional textile resins, are set to support the textile sector’s sustainability goals. The new product range is a step forward in reducing the environmental impact of textile manufacturing, aligning with the increasing industry demand for more sustainable practices.

As the textile industry accounts for 6 to 8% of global emissions, Arkema’s introduction of bio-based solutions comes at a critical time when there is a growing need to minimize the sector’s carbon footprint. “Bio-based materials are essential for the next generation of sustainable textile products, and we are proud to support our customers in achieving their sustainability targets and carbon reduction objectives,” said Helene Pernot, Global Sustainability Marketing Director at Arkema’s Coating Solutions division.

Arkema’s approach to sustainability extends throughout the entire lifecycle of its products. From formulating safer products—such as those free from formaldehyde and APEO and compliant with Oeko-Tex® Eco Passport standards—to using renewable, lower-carbon feedstocks, the company’s commitment to sustainability is clear. Additionally, Arkema is focused on improving the end-of-life management of its products, enhancing biodegradability, extending durability, and improving color stability and wash resistance, which are crucial for the longevity of textile goods.

Patricia Beurdeley, Global Market Manager for Nonwovens & Textile at Arkema, added: “We are dedicated to not only providing innovative solutions but also ensuring that our products support a more sustainable future for the textile industry. By enhancing the biodegradability and durability of our future grades, we are helping our customers move toward more sustainable and resilient textile solutions.”
