Arkema to Triple Rilsan® Clear Production with New $20 Million Singapore Unit

(IN BRIEF) Arkema is expanding its Singapore operations with a new Rilsan® Clear transparent polyamide unit, following its recent 50% capacity increase at the same site. The US $20 million project, due in Q1 2026, will triple global production of transparent polyamides, meeting rising demand in industries such as eyewear, electronics, healthcare, and appliances. Arkema’s flagship Rilsan® Clear Rnew® grades—G850 and G820—feature 45% and 62% bio-based carbon respectively, offering lightweight clarity, flexibility, and chemical resistance across temperature extremes, and are fully recyclable under the Virtucycle® program. Laurent Tellier emphasizes that this expansion aligns with market trends and fortifies Arkema’s Singapore platform to better serve customers regionally and globally.

(PRESS RELEASE) LA DEFENSE, 10-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Arkema is building on the successful launch of its cutting-edge Singapore facility—which boosted global Rilsan® polyamide 11 capacity by 50%—by constructing a dedicated Rilsan® Clear transparent polyamide unit on the same site. This US $20 million investment, slated to enter service in Q1 2026, will triple Arkema’s worldwide output of transparent polyamides, addressing surging demand for sustainable, high-performance clear materials in sectors from eyewear and consumer electronics to medical devices and home appliances.

Arkema leads the market in bio-based transparent polyamides, notably its Rilsan® Clear Rnew® G850 (45% bio-based carbon) and G820 (62% bio-based carbon) grades. These polymers combine exceptional lightness, clarity, flexibility, and chemical resistance, while performing reliably across varied temperature ranges. In line with Arkema’s Virtucycle® program for advanced polymers, they are fully recyclable, reinforcing the company’s commitment to circularity.

“This expansion underscores our responsiveness to evolving market needs and highlights our dedication to global growth,” said Laurent Tellier, Deputy General Manager, High-Performance Polymers and Fluorogases. “It further strengthens our strategic Singapore platform, ensuring we can support customers across Asia and beyond with cutting-edge transparent polyamide solutions.”
