Arkema Strengthens Leadership in Transparent Polyamides as Singapore Facility Comes Fully Online

(IN BRIEF) Arkema has brought its new Rilsan® Clear transparent polyamide production unit in Singapore fully online, significantly expanding its manufacturing capacity and reinforcing its leadership in high-performance polymers. The investment, announced in mid-2025, triples Arkema’s global production capacity for transparent polyamides and establishes the largest such capacity in Asia. Designed for efficiency and reliability, the facility will support growing demand across sectors including eyewear, AR and VR, consumer electronics, healthcare, and industrial applications. The expansion also highlights Arkema’s focus on sustainable materials, including bio-based and fully recyclable transparent polyamides, and its strategy to build resilient, customer-proximate supply chains.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS LA DÉFENSE, 13-Jan-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Arkema has reached a significant milestone with the successful commissioning of its new Rilsan® Clear transparent polyamide production unit at the Group’s Singapore platform. Now fully operational, the facility substantially expands Arkema’s manufacturing footprint in Asia and reinforces its position as a global leader in high-performance transparent polyamides. With this start-up, Arkema now operates the largest transparent polyamide production capacity in the region.

The new unit represents a major expansion of Arkema’s global capabilities, tripling overall production capacity for Rilsan® Clear transparent polyamides. The project follows an investment of approximately US$20 million, announced in July 2025, and forms part of Arkema’s broader portfolio of growth initiatives aligned with its long-term strategy in Specialty Materials. The expansion reflects the Group’s continued focus on value-added, high-performance solutions that support both innovation and sustainability.

Engineered for high reliability and operational efficiency, the Singapore unit is designed to meet increasing market demand for advanced transparent materials with strong sustainability credentials. These materials are widely used across fast-growing sectors such as eyewear, augmented and virtual reality applications, smart consumer electronics, industrial filtration, healthcare equipment, and home appliances. By strengthening local production capacity, Arkema is better positioned to respond quickly to customer needs while ensuring supply chain resilience across Asia.

Rilsan® Clear transparent polyamides are known for combining technical performance with design flexibility and environmental benefits. They offer high transparency, low weight, flexibility, and strong chemical resistance, while remaining fully recyclable through Arkema’s Virtucycle® program. Arkema also leads the market in bio-based transparent polyamides, with flagship Rilsan® Clear Rnew® grades such as G850 and G820, which contain 45 percent and 62 percent bio-based carbon content respectively.

The expansion of the Singapore platform underscores Arkema’s commitment to developing competitive, local production close to customers, while supporting the broader transition toward more sustainable materials. With this additional capacity now online, Arkema strengthens its ability to serve customers in Asia and worldwide with innovative, reliable, and environmentally responsible polymer solutions.

Building on its unique set of expertise in materials science, Arkema offers a portfolio of first-class technologies to address evergrowing demand for new and more sustainable materials. With the ambition to become a pure player in Specialty Materials, the Group is structured into 3 complementary, resilient and highly innovative segments dedicated to Specialty Materials – Adhesive Solutions, Advanced Materials, and Coating Solutions – accounting for some 92% of Group sales in 2024, and a well-positioned and competitive Intermediates segment. Arkema offers cutting-edge technological solutions to meet the challenges of, among other things, new energies, access to water, recycling, urbanization and mobility, and fosters a permanent dialogue with all its stakeholders. The Group reported sales of around € 9.5 billion in 2024, and operates in some 55 countries with 21,150 employees worldwide.
